Decoration of palms, ferns, bouquets of mixed flowers and white tapers in candelabra made a beautiful setting for a pre-holiday wedding Sunday [12/02/1945] afternoon in the Rock Falls Christian church. The bride was Miss Lucille Sprankle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sprankle of Rock Falls, and the bridegroom was Stanley Deets, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Deets of Coleta. The double ring service was read at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the church. Mrs. Austin Corzett was the nuptial pianist and Austin Corzett was the vocalist. His two numbers were “I Love You Truly” and “O Promise Me.” Miss Dorothy Sprankle, the bride’s sister was her maid of honor and Misses Juanita Pfundstein of Milledgeville and Virginia Bakalla of Chicago were the bridesmaids. Mervin Deets was best man for his brother. The ushers were Jimmy Wolf, cousin of the bride and Warren Deets, brother of the bridegroom.

With her father, who gave her hand in marriage, the bride approached the altar attired in a white satin gown with a net overskirt at the bottom of which were five wide ruffles complemented with satin bows. The long train was also of net and had a matching ruffle. Rows of tiny white satin buttons fastened the bodice down the back and also ornamented the long-leg o’mutton sleeves. The neckline of the gown was sweetheart style. The bride’s veil was fingertip with a blusher and her tiara was of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. The maid of honor was gowned in yellow satin, her dress being styled with a net overskirt, half sleeves and square neckline. Miss Pfundstein, bridesmaid, wore a blue satin dress with short sleeves and tiny ruffles at the hem of the skirt. Pink satin was worn by the other bridesmaid, Miss Bakalla. Her dress was designed with five ruffles, short sleeves, and sweetheart neckline. The three attendants wore headdresses of blusher veils to match their dresses. They carried carnations and tiny mums tied with satin ribbon.

The reception in the church parlors was for 200 guests. Pink, blue and white, the bride’s colors, were used in the pretty refreshment table setting of candles and bowls of carnations. The five tiered wedding cake was ornamented by a bridal couple in miniature. Mrs. Sarah Ciscell cut the cake. Mrs. Frank Bakalla served and Miss Anna Shughart poured. The bride’s book was in charge of Miss Neva Rockwell. They are all friends of the bride. For the wedding and reception the bride’s mother was wearing a black crepe dress with a silk bodice and corsage of carnations and pom poms. Brown silk was selected by the bridegroom’s mother and in her corsage were white carnations and yellow pompons.

Mrs. Deets was educated in Rock Falls where she attended Merrill grades and Rock Falls Township high school. Mr. Deets attended the rural school at Coleta and has just returned from 34 months of service in the South Pacific. When the couple departed on a short honeymoon the bride donned a blue wool dress with half sleeves and trimmed with blue and gold beads. Her accessories were black. Upon their return the couple will reside for the present with the bride’s parents. Out of town wedding guests were present from Chicago, Milledgeville, Polo, Lyndon, Rockford, Erie, Dixon, Silvis, Lanark, Chadwick, Coleta, Prophetstown and Morrison.
