Marriage vows for Miss Virginia R. Deets, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Deets of Emerson and Ronald W. Koster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Koster of Agnew, were read at 2:30 o’clock Sunday [06/02/1946] afternoon by Dr. Alfred Grewe. The beautiful decorations in St. John’s Lutheran church were palms, ferns, peonies, cut flowers and candelabra. Mrs. G. H. Doermann was the nuptial organist and John Meyer sang “Because” and “You and Love.” In the bridal procession were Mrs. Paul George as matron of honor and Miss Doris Deets, sister of the bride, bridesmaid. The bridegroom was served by his brother, Walter F. Koster as best man, and the ushers were Lawrence Koster, Paul George, Elmer Koster and Raymond Heilener.

The bride was clad in a wedding gown of white brocaded satin, the design being with sweetheart neckline and long sleeves coming to a point over the hand. A halo held her fingertip veil in place. She wore a double strand of pearls, the bridegroom’s gift, and carried a bouquet of white carnations encircling an orchid. Dresses fashioned with net skirts and satin bodices were worn by the bride’s attendants, blue for the matron of honor and pink for the bridesmaid. Tiaras of flowers with matching ribbon adorned their hair and they had colonial bouquets. The bride’s mother selected a light grey dress and the bridegroom’s mother wore a light green net print dress. Their accessories were brown and in their shoulder corsages were gardenias.

A wedding reception took place at the Deets country home, where tables were trimmed in pink and blue and white bells. The four-tiered cake was cut by Mrs. Charles Reed, with Mrs. Charles Johnson assisting. The serving was done by the Misses Donna Fredricks, Verla Brewer and Marian and Mildred Deets and the bride’s book was attended to by the Misses Kathryn and Bessie Deets. Both bride and bridegroom received their education in the rural schools and Sterling Township high school, where they were graduated in the class of 1942. Mrs. Koster has recently been employed in the offices of the Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. Mr. Koster is engaged in farming. When they left on a honeymoon to Yellowstone park and other points west, the new Mrs. Koster donned a grey traveling suit with a navy bonnet and accessories and orchid corsage. Upon their return they will reside in Emerson.
