In a lovely wedding ceremony in the St Mary's Church in West Chicago , Miss Dorothy Jane Schmucker of Chicago was united in marriage to Merle J. Wurth of Sterling Saturday afternoon, September 1. The double ring service was performed by Rev. Fr. F. A. McLaughlin of that church.
The lovely bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Ernest J. Sauber. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Schramer, brother in law and sister of the bride.
Mrs. Wurth chose for her beautiful gown a white net skirt and white lace bodice with a veil of shoulder length. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gladioli and baby breath. Her attendant was dressed in a becoming blue taffeta and net gown with veil to match, and carried a similar cascade bouquet of yellow gladioli and blue delphiniums.
The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. H.W. Kimes, wore a blue dress and a pink gladioli shoulder corsage. The groom’s aunt, Mrs. Arthur Cummings, was dressed in a black and [white] print dress and wore a white gladioli corsage.
A reception followed the wedding in the home of Mr. And Mrs. Robert Schramer. Assisting were Mrs. R. Cain, Mrs. R. Traubel, Mrs. A. Wheeler, Mrs. C. Nixon, Jr, and Mrs. W. Plane.
Mrs. Wurth graduated from the West Chicago Community high school and has been employed at the Illinois Bell Telephone company in West Chicago . Mr. Wurth is a graduate of Sterling Township high school and was discharged from the Army in June under the point system. In September, he will enter the Illinois State Teachers college at Normal . The young couple will be at home at 218 North University Street , Normal [ Illinois ] after a short honeymoon.
