MILFORD JOHNSON , 73, passed away in his sleep Saturday night at his home, 408 Eleventh Avenue. Saturday night he suffered a heart attack and was attended by a physician. Sunday morning when members of his family attempted to arouse him they discovered he had passed peacefully away in his sleep. Since the passing of his wife, Mrs. Blanche Mason Johnson on June 8 (1939) , life so far as Mr. Johnson was concerned, was a closed book. He only marked time until he and his wife would be together once more in The Beyond. He kept his inward feeling of sorrow well concealed in his efforts to console members of his family and close friends in the loss of their loved one. However, he made it known he was ready to go at any time. The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Melvin funeral home. Rev. Charles L. Brooks, pastor of the Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery at Morrison. He did exceptionally fine cabinet work. He retired two years ago. She was married to Homer H. Johnson August 7, 1888 and with hr husband settled in Cleveland, Ohio where she resided at the time of her death. During the years of her residence here and wherever duty called, her unassuming ways, her kind disposition and strong mental power, won the affection of many, whose friendship grew strong with the years. Her married life commenced under the happiest auspices, and with her surroundings the future to one of her loving disposition and mental grasp possessed great possibilities. Soon, however, all future hopes were blighted, an attack of "la grippe" last winter aggravating a previous ailment and for months causing her pain and suffering, which she endured with heroic fortitude until she sank to her final sleep. brought by bereaved husband, father and mother to the home of her childhood, she and her babe were laid to rest beneath the green drapery of nature, the obsequies taking place on the 7th inst. from the home of her parents in this city, in the presence of many friends whose sorrowing hearts are filled with the deepest sympathy for those whose homes have been made so desolate.
