JESSIE M. (UNDERHILL) RATHBUN - age 73, of 2100 Freeport Rd., #719C died Tuesday in Rockford Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Allen Funeral Home in Sterling with RWv. Seymour Halford officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitaton will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Rathbun was born Jan. 13, 1916 in Pontiac, the daughter of Jesse James and Rose Pearl Snethen Underhill. She married Frank Corrigan, who preceded her in death. She then married B. F. Rathbun in Sterling. She had been employed in the cosmetic department at Bergner's in Sterling for ten years. She is survived by her husband, B. F. (Bill) Rathbun; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Betty) Sargent of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Diane Coons of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Mary) Fearman of Hennepin and Mrs. Ralph (Donna) Gruendler of San Antonio, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother.

HAROLD F. REAL - 74, of South Otter Creek Dr., died this morning at Coventry Village. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Milledgeville Brethren Church. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Allen Woodin Funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mr. Real was born Sept. 3, 1915 in Fairmont, Neb., the son of William and Mabel Kness Real. He married Dorothy Cheeseman, Dec. 31, 1942 in Milledgeville. She survives. He is a retired self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Milledgeville Brethren Church and a past Deacon. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jim) Hutchisen, Milledgeville; three grandchildren, a sister, Leona Real.

ESTHER (LADINE) RECTOR - Committal rites were held in Riverside Cemetery Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Arthur Rector of Yates City. Mrs. Rector, formerly Esther LaDine, whose parents were the late Alfred and Clara LaDine of Prophetstown, passed away Saturday in the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. C. B. LaDine, in Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Rector had been critically ill the last three months. Survivors include a son and a daughter, Lee Rector of California, Mrs. Mario Goff of Highland Park, three grandchildren, a brother, Doctor LaDine; two sisters, Mrs. Helen McCormick of Oxnard, Calif., and Mrs. Mabel Davis of Chicago. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rector was preceded in death by her husband and a brother. Approximately 25 relatives and friends from Indianapolis, Chicago, Highland Park., Yates City, Loves Park, Rock Island, Morrison, Clinton and Prophetstown gathered in the Melvin Moore home following the services. Assisting with serving included Mrs. Lee Schipper of Morrison and Mrs. Max Buck.

AMELIA JOSEPHINE (SCHMITT) REYNOLDS - The following is the obituary of Mrs. Amelia Josephine (Schmitt) Reynolds, who died in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, January 4, 1919 and whose remains were brought to Prophetstown for burial. Mrs. Reynolds was well known in Prophetstown and vicinity and her friends will learn of her death with sorrow. Amelia Josephine Schmitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thoephilus Schmitt, was born in Yorktown township, Bureau county May 1, 1868 and died January 4, 1919 of heart failure. On May 6, 1891 she was married to Warren E. Reynolds, and to them were born three children: Eva Georgiana, who preceded her mother in death, Helena Belle and Edwin L. both residing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mrs. Reynolds had been in poor health for some years, and four years ago last September moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to make home for her children. Beside the children she leaves to mourn her death, her mother, Mrs. Theophilus Schmitt, two sisters and six brothers; Mrs. L.E. McNamara, of Prophetstown; Mrs. Philip Mathis of Hooppole; Edward of LosAnimas, Clordo; august A. of Ellendale, Minnesota; George H. of Waterford, California; Frank X. of Prophetstown; John of Columbus, Ohio and Charles A. of Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of the M. E. church, also of the Rebekah order, in both of which she was true to her vows. She was a true mother and wife and a lady who held the highest respect of all who knew her for her many beautiful qualities, especially that of motherhood of which her children will testify. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Mrs. Harriet Reynolds home and was presided by Rev. W.R. Wilson of the M.E. church of this place. Burial was made in Riverside.

CHARLES L. REYNOLDS , 81, 1327 Andrews St., Rockford, formerly of Morrison, died Saturday ( 20 Apr 1985) at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford. Funeral services will be held Tuedsay at 1:30 p.m. in the Morrison Chapel of Rosina Funeral Home with William C. Hunt, officiating. Burial in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial has been established to the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church of Rockford. Mr. Reynolds was born Dec. 3, 1903 in Havana, the son of Charles H. and Judith Mason Reynolds. He was united in marriage to Pearl Anderson on June 9, 1927 in Moline. He was educated in Havana Public Schools. He was a charter member of Winnebago County Sheriff's Mounted Posse and the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church where he served as church usher. Mr. Reynolds resided the past several years in Rockford and prior to that in the Prophetstown and Morrison area. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, one son, Pastor Richard E. Reynolds of Rockford; three grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Edna Dierker of Havana. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

RACHEL (BUSHMAN) REYNOLDS , 72-year-old resident of Coleta, died Wednesday [01/21/1959] in the Whiteside County Nursing home following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1886, in Davis Junction, Ill. (Ogle County) , the daughter of Joseph and Rebecca Hurless Bushman and was a life-long resident of this area. She was united in marriage to Howard W. Reynolds, Oct. 15, 1908, at Coleta. Her husband preceded her in death some time ago. Mrs. Reynolds is survived by two sons, Clare Reynolds, Burlington, Wis., and Frank Reynolds, Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. [Clayton] LaVern (Ruth) Conrady, Waukegan, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Woodin Fundral Home. The body will be taken at noon Friday to the United Brethren in Christ Church in Coleta where services will be held at 2 p.m. Rev. Herbert Edwards will officiate and burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Milledgeville. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church.

COLETA — Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel B. Reynolds were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the United Brethren In Christ church wit the Rev. Herbert Edwards officiating. Mrs. J. D. Flynn and Mrs. Gary Kenner sand Some Golden Daybreak, and In The Garden. Mrs. Milton Schoenleben was organist. The burial was made in the Bethel cemetery at Milledgeville. Acting as pall bearers were William Farwell, Clarence Lubbs, Fred Lubbs, Ray Rahn, Marvin Carbaugh and J. D. Flynn. Flowers were taken care of by Mrs. Ray Rahn and Mrs. Marvin Carbaugh.

ROY H. REYNOLDS , 80, of 15689 Norrish Road, Morrison, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at CGH Medical Center. He was a lifetime dairy farmer in the Morrison area, retiring in 1977. Mr Reynolds was born Aug. 8 1921 in Thomson, the son of Charles W and Margie (Martindale) Reynolds. He attended Thomson schools. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Daisy M Bills on Dec. 25, 1943, in Morrison. She died July 23 1989. He attended First Baptist Church, Morrison, was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Morrison American Legion Post 328. Survivors include two daughters, Margie (Jerry) Baker and Lori (David) Snow, both ofMorrison; two sons, John (Deb) Reynolds of Clinton, Iowa and Brian Reynolds of Sharlie, Ark. a sister Mary Planthaber of Morrison; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Rimrod and Jessie Reynolds; two brothers, Wesley Reynolds and Glen Reynolds; and three great-grandsons. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Clarence Harridge officiating. Burial, with military rites conducted by the Morrison American Legion and VFW, is at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Morrison Food Pantry.

Mass of the Resurrection was today at 1 p.m. in St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls with Rev. L. Thomas Risley officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. There was no visitation. Funeral arrangements were completed by the Mellvin-Schilling Funeral home in Sterling. Mrs. Rice was born on Nov 3, 1906 in Rockton, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of William and Agnes Hodson Hollis.She was employed as a seamstress at Weinstines in Sterling and had been a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rock Falls. Survivors include one son, William Rice of Sterling; three daughters, Mrs. Amy Ellen Tupy of Rock Falls, Mrs. George (Margaret) Durney of Yonkers, N.Y., and Mrs. Mary LaFleur of San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, Bert Hollis of Niagra Falls, Canada, Harry Hollis of Saranac, N.Y. and Frank Hollis of Watertown, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Mary) Winters of Welland, Ontario, Canada, Anges Hollis and Jessie Hollis, both of Canada; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

BARBARA (WOOSTER) RICE , 77, of Morrison, died Saturday (16 October 2004) at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison. A memorial service is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Morrison Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, Ill., will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling, Ill. She was born April 26, 1927, in Belvidere, Ill, to Laurence W. and Delores M. Anderson Wooster. She married Bertrand D. Rice on July 5, 1947, in Sterling. She was educated in the Belvidere grade schools and was a graduate of Sterling High School. She and her husband farmed in rural Genesee Township near Malvern, Ill. She also was employed with the Resthave Retirement and Nursing Home, Morrison, for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Whiteside County Home Bureau. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Robin Dibble of Morrison and Mrs. Dawn (Brian) Dewey and Mrs. Debra (Dave) Scott, both of Sterling; two sons, Lawrence "Lonnie" (Beth) Rice of Hillsboro, Mo., and Daryl (Susan) Belfair, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

JOHN ROARK - Services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Allen Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church for John E. Roark of Rt. 2, Sterling, who died Aug. 4, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. Rev. Philip E. O'Neil celebrated the requiem mass and burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Wayne E. Larson was at the organ at the funeral home. Pallbearers were William Eberle, Robert Puckett, Joe Conneely, Marion Passini, Lawrence Droste and James Enright. Flowers were cared for by Swartleys.

LLOYD EDGAR ROSENGREN - Funeral services are complete at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral home for Lloyd Edgar Rosengren of RFD No. 2, Rock Falls, who died Thursday (23 Dec 1965) morning at Colonial Acres Rest Home at the age of 80. Mr. Rosengren was born in Coloma Township on October 10, 1885, the son of John B. and Anna Peterson Rosengren. He farmed his entire life in Coloma and Montmorency Townships. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and a former school director. Mr. Rosengren was united in marriage to Anna Sonneman on Dec. 18, 1912. She preceded him on June 28, 1926. He was reunited in marriage to Anna Vock on Dec. 25, 1927. She died Feb. 14, 1955. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Glenys Hubbard of Rock Falls and Mrs. Jim (Mildred) O. Whites of Milledgeville; two sons, Elwin and Donald, both of RFD No. 2, Rock Falls; one sister, Mrs. Harry (Hazel) Lauff of Rock Falls; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; one brother, Herbert Rosengren and one sister, Mrs. Harry (Mabel) Terhune along with both wives. CHARLES F. ROYER , 78, 404 17th Ave., Sterling, retired area farmer, died early today at Community General Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Behrens Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Chakour officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cmetery. He was born in Hopkins Township April 14, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Royer, and was educated in the Hopewell School, Hopkins Twp. He also farmed for many years in Hopkins Twp. moving to Sterling in 1950.
Surviving are a brother, Arthur, Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Quesenberry, Redwood Falls, Minn., and Miss Ruth Royer, Sterling and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday.

CLARA (McCAULEY) ROYER , 90, who spent her entire life before moving to Sterling four years ago in Hopkins township, died at 1 am today in Community General hospital. She had been a patient there the past 10 days. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McCauley, she was born April 6, 1861 in Hopkins township. Funeral services will be conducted in the Trouth Funeral Home Wednesday at 3:30 pm by Rev. Paul Bloomquist pastor of the Fourth Street Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. C.F. Royer, her husband, passed away Oct 30, 1917. They had married Jan 5, 1882 in Coleta and began farming in Hopkins township after their marriage. Mrs. Royer lived on the same farm her entire married life and until moving to Sterling four years ago.
Surviving are three daughtrers, Mrs. Bertha Quesenberry, Redwood Falls, Minn., Mrs. Charles F Reed, Emerson and Ruth Royer, Sterling, two sons, Charles and Arthur Royer, both of Sterling; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, a daughter, a grandaughter and seven brothers and sisters.

EDGAR A. ROYER , of 808 Freeport Road Sterling died in Moline Public Hospital Friday (15 January 1965) evening shortly after being admitted. Mr. Royer was born May 17, 1899 in Jordan Township, the son of Albert and Carrie Irene Warner Royer. He was united in marriage March 26, 1924 to Leola Rabbitt, and they lived their entire married life in Sterling. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Sterling. Mr. Royer worked as a mechanic for Sam Frank Garage for 22 years and was a partner in McCoy-Royer Garage for 12 years and the Loncor and Royer Garage for five years. he had worked at the Golf Bowl for the past two years as a maintenance man. Mr. Royer is survived by his wife, Leola; one daughter, Mrs. John (Frances) Persona of Sterling; one son, Thomas of Dixon; one sister, Mrs. Roy (Effie) Brandt of St. Petersburg, Fla; three grandchildren, Kathy, Kristy and John David Persona, all of Sterling; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Major (Frances) Rabbitt of Calistoga, Calif., several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, two brothers, George and one in infancy. Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Mortonson of the First Presbyterian Church officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday.

JACKIE ROYER , 66, of Rock Falls died Thursday March 10, 2005 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Royer was born May 30, 1938 in Rock Falls the son of Floyd and Evelyn (Silvey) Royer. He served in the Air Force. He married Sandra Dravis. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Paralyzed Veterans of America, was the 1987 National Wheelchair Bowling Champion and was certified to teach junior bowling. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs games and spending time with this family. Survivors indlude his wife; four sisters, Alice (Junior) Billins and Marcia (Rich) Chapinski, both of Sterling, and Nina (Leroy) Holloway, and Judy (Walt) Barger, both of Rock Falls; three brothes, Vern (Pat) Royer, Eddie (Connie) Royer and Al (Tara) Royer, all of Rock Falls; several nieces, and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Royer.
He was preceded by his parents; and a brother, Larry Royer. The funeral is Monday at Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls, Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial with miliary honors is at Riverside.

ISADORE RUBIN , 65, of 1501 Heritage Lane, Sterling, died Monday (18 Oct 1976) at Community General Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be held in the Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home with the Rabbi Robert Marks of the Temple Sholom of Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. There will be no visitation. A Memorial has been established. He was born Sept. 16, 1911 in Rock Falls, the son of Joseph and Dora Shiiff Rubin. He attended Rock Falls schools, graduated from Rock Falls High and attended the University of Ill. He was a WW II Army veteran, a member of the Rotary Club of Rock Falls, IOOF of Rock Falls and B.P.O.E. Sterling Lodge 1218. He was in partnership with his brother, Joseph Rubin Co., auto dealers in Rock Falls. He was united in marriage to Gussie Feldman on Dec. 23, 1966 in Oak Park. Survivors include his wife, one sister, Mrs. Benjamin (Betty) Pearlman of River Forrest; two brothers, Dr. Louis Rubin of Rockford, and Milton Rubin of Sterling. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

ARTHUR C. RUBRIGHT , 55, well known Sterling contractor, died Sunday (21 Feb. 1971) evening in Rockford Memorial Hospial from injuries received in a fall Feb. 12. Rubright resided on Hickory Hills Road. The body was moved to the Melvin Funeral Home in Sterling where friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until services Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Melvin Home with the Rev. Harry W. Lutz, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Rubright was born August 3, 1915 at Moline, the son of Glenn and Lula Gash Rubright. He was educated in the Rock Falls schools after his family moved there. Rubright was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was married to Mabel Schwab on July 31, 1969. She survives along with five sons: Robert A., Coleta; John L., Rock Falls; Joel C., Falgler Beach, Fla.; Wayne C. and Ronald O., both of Sterling. VIRGINIA (WILLIAMS) RYNEARSON , 70, Moonlite Bay, Sterling, died Friday (6 Feb. 1976) Community General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Behrens-Blair Funeral Home. The Rev. Jean Salzman, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The former Virginia Williams was born Oct. 25, 1905 in Sterling, the daughter of Judson and Jenie Hover Williams. She attended Sterling High School and was employed at John Hill Company for 40 years. She married Ferris Rynearson on Dec. 20, 1938 at Sterling. She is survived by her husband. She was preceded by her parents and a brother, Jack Williams.
