WEDDINGS
There was a beautiful arrangement of flowers in the front of the church for the nuptial setting. The candles were lighted by Ray Walzer, who also laid the white carpet for the bridal party. Miss Ruth Gerdes, a friend of the bride and her family, was the vocalist and Miss Ethel Blair played the organ wedding music and marches. The pipe organ in the church was given in memory of the bride's uncle, the late John McNeil, several years ago by members of his family.
The bride's gown was fashioned with a white silk jersey bodice and white net skirt with a short train. Shoulder epaulets of white lent the new military effect to her gown. The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, August Hoover. She carried a lovely bridal bouquet and wore a two strand pearl necklace, the bridegroom's gift.
Miss Madolyn Russell, oldest sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Florence Russell, her youngest sister, and Miss Marilyn Flynn, youngest sister of the bridegroom, were the bridesmaids. Marvin Flynn, youngest brother of the bridegroom, served him as best man and the ushers were Nick Miller, uncle of the bride, and Ellery Shank cousin of the bridegroom.
A wedding reception for the relatives followed the ceremony. Table decorations were in the bride's colors, pink, blue and white. During the hour there was a vocal duet number sung by the Rev. and Mrs. Charles H. Piper of the Open Bible church and a solo by Rev. Leland Brown of the Four Square Gospel church, accompanied by Mrs. Brown on the accordion. Piano music was played by Miss Ruth Gerdes.
When the newlyweds departed for Chicago to spend their honeymoon the bride was attired in a two piece brown suit with harmonizing accessories. Mrs. Flynn received her education in the Rock Falls, Aledo and Sterling schools. She is employed at the Borden Milk Products Co.
The bridegroom, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Flynn of Genesee, is leaving Saturday to enter the service of his country. When he is discharged the young couple will start farming near Coleta.
