Wedding Announcement
OF
Robert Gerdes & Betty Fadden

Saturday afternoon in the Fourth Street Methodist Church, Miss Betty C. Fadden, daughter of Mrs. Adabelle Fadden, 410 Avenue D, became the bride of Robert A. Gerdes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gerdes of Route 1, Tampico. The pastor, Rev. Albion J. Tavenner, heard the vows in a single ring ceremony at 2:30 o'clock.

Miss Haroldine Fadden, apprentice seaman in the Waves and the bride's sister, attended her. The best man was Herbert Lee of Prophetstown.

Ferns and white candles were the decorations at the front of the church auditorium. The service was by candlelight.

The bride's dress of aqua gabardine was Russian Tunic style with nailhead trim. She wore an off-the-face black hat with nailhead trim and a corsage of pink roses at her shoulder. The bridesmaid was attired in a fuchsia dress and black off-the-face hate. Her flowers were white carnations.

A reception for the families of the newlyweds and a few friends was held in the Fadden home, where the young couple received congratulations. There were pink and blue decorations on the refreshment table, which was centered by an attractively trimmed three-tier wedding cake.

Mrs. Gerdes graduated from Sterling Township high school and has been employd at Green River ordinance plant. Mr. Gerdes was educated in the Tampico and Prophetstown schools and is engaged in farming. After a honeymoon in Chicago they will reside on a farm three miles northwest of Tampico.

The out-of-town guests included the bride's brother, Wesley Fadden, COX, who is here from Treasure Island, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gerdes of Tampico, Miss Elizabeth Drews of Dixon and Miss Beverly Scott of Morrison.
