In the soft glow of candlelight services held at seven o'clock in the evening, Saturday, May 22, (1965) Miss Sandra Kay Olinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Olinger of Erie and Richard L. Johnson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Johnson Sr., of Tampico were united in Holy Matrimony at the First Congregational Church of Prophetstown.

The church altar vases were arranged with nuptial bouquets of white gladiolus and blue carnations and a white aisle runner was used for the service with blue pew ties marking the entries.

The Rev. A. Dean Lundstrom officiated for the double ring service. Traditional bridal marches and arrangements were played by the church organist, Mrs. Lyle Dingman with Mrs. Donald Olinger Jr., serving as the nuptial soloist singing the nuptial selectin, Because.

The bride was lovely as she approached the altar at the arm of her father weating a traditional white satin bridal gown. The floor length gown was designed with a fitted bodice of chantilly lace sculptured in an off the shoulder styling and fitted with a nylon yoke. The long chantilly lace sleeves came to points at the wrists and the full length skirt featured pointed panels of the chantilly lace motif and is designed with a full cathedral train. Her lovely ensemble was complimented with a two strand cultured pearl necklace, and matching earrings, a gift from the bridegroom

The bridal headpiece was a silk heartshaped pillbox fitted with miniature crown insets of lace petals accented with miniature pearls with an extending full length bridal veil of silk illusion. She carried a crescent designed bridal bouquet in an arrangement of white mums and poms tied with white satin streamers intertwined with ivy.

Mrs. Neal Olinger of Lyndon, sister-in-law of the bride, served as the matron of honor wearing a street length ensemble in a soft powder blue shade. Designed with a molded bodice the gown featured a scoop neckline and tea cup sleeves. Miniature bows enchanted the waist line and the back of the ensemble was accented with shoulder flying panels. Her matching petal plateau headpiece was adorned with a maline veil. The crescent floral bouquet carried complimented the blue accents of here costume.

Richard Davis of Tampico, served as the best man with Clarence Schindel of Tampico and David Olinger, brother of the bride, serving as the ushers for the service. Each of the men of the bridal party work dark suits with white carnation boutonnieres.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Donald Olinger, chose a navy blue and white polka dot ensemble, complemented with navy accessories. Mrs. Richard L. Johnson Sr., mother of the bridegroom chose a white floral print, for her sons' wedding, complemented with white accessories. Each wore corsages designed of white carnations, as did Mrs. Ethel Meyer, grandmother of the bride and Mrs. Ethel Johnson, grandmother of the bridegroom.

The Golden Guild of the First Congregational Church, with Mrs. Lynn Kemp and Mrs. Allsworth Jones, serving as co-chairmen hosted the reception which followed in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately after the nuptial service.

Mr. and Mrs. Mallory Hull served as the bridal party host and hostell, greeting the guests with Miss Susan Olinger of Thomas, cousin of the bride registering those in attendance.

The lovely reception decorations were arranged in the bride's chosen colors of blue and white. The attractive serving table was covered with a white cloth and centered with a five tiered wedding cake decorated in blue and white and topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom. Its base was encassed with white mums and interwoven in the circlet with floral greenery, and was prepared by Mrs. Fred Lofgren. Mrs. Elaine Majeski of Clinton, Ia., and Mrs. Norman Olinger of Thomas, aunts of the bride were hostesses at the cake serving following the initial bridal cut. Mrs. Cecil Gardiner, aunt of the bridegroom, served as hostess at the coffee serving and Mrs. Douglas Chamberlain of Lyndon, cousin of the bride, was hostess at the punch service. Hostesses ensembles were complemented with corsages of blue and white carnations and friends and relatives assisting as waitresses wore blue aprons, each a gift from the bride. Serving as waitresses were: Miss Dawn Taets of Tampico, a friend of the bride and Mrs. Eddie Lindskog of Prophetstown, cousin of the bride. Also hosting were miss Marge Downey of Sterling, Mrs. Ernest Schroeder of Erie; Mrs. Kenneth Braasch of Tampico and Miss Ann Gardner of Prophetstown who assisted in the opening and displaying of the wedding gifts.

Guests were registered from the communities of Lyndon, Tampico, Erie, Morrison, Sterling, Thomas, Geneseo, Fulton, and Prophetstown and Clinton, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Olinger were hosts at an open house at their home in Erie later in the evening.

For her honeymoon trip, the bride chose a dark suit and wore the lift out corsage from her bridal bouquet.

The bride was a graduate of the Erie Community High School and is employed at the General Electric Plant in Morrison. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Tampico Comunity High School and is employed at the Penberthy Plant in Prophetstown.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Johnson J r., are now making their new home following their honeymoon at 510 1/2 Washington Street, Prophetstown.
