Wedding Announcement

Leo Joseph Miller & Helen Louise Egan

Miss Helen Louise Egan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Egan of Deer Grove, and Leo Joseph Miller, son of Edward C. Miller of Harmon were united in marriage Saturday morning in a solemn nuptial high mass at St.Marys Catholic Church in Tampico. The celebant of the mass was Rev. Peter Egan of Gilman Il., uncle of the bride. Rev. T.O. Mcguire of St. Marys was deacon and Rev. David Murphy of Harmon was subdeacon. The servers were Thomas Keefe and William Devine.

Yellow and White Chrysanthemums, ferns and palms banked the altars of the church.

The bride who was given in marriage by her father wore a gown of white chiffon over white satin, sweetheart neckline and delicate inserts of white net in butterfly pattern graced each shoulder of the of the satin bodice and also the train of the full chiffon skirt. Her fingertip veil fell from a halo of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and baby mums centered with a purple orchid, also a white pearl rosary, a gift from the bridegroom.

Mrs. Genevieve Devine sister of the bride was matron of honor. She chose pink net over chiffon with matching veil and carried a mixed bouquet of mums and carnations. Miss Merita Johnson, cousin of the bride and Miss Helen E. Hermes a friend, were bridesmaids. They wore blue chiffon and blue net over jersey with matching shoulder veils and carried identical mixed bouquets.

Edward Miller, brother of the bridegroom served as best man and Roland Egan and Gene Devine were groomsmen. The ushers were Robert Johnson of Ohio and Donald Than of Rock Falls.

The Organist, Mrs. William Adams played the nuptial prelude, the processional and accompanied the choir. Mrs. William Dawson, vocalist, sang Rosewigs "Ave Maria" at the offertory and "Veni Creator Spirtus" at the communion.

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to 25 guests in the Egan home. Yellow and white fall flowers graced the tables and white candles were held by crystal candleabra. Centering the brides table was four tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom and decorated in the bridal colors of blue and white.

Later in the day Mr. Miller and his bride left for a wedding trip. Mrs. Miller was wearing a pink gabardine dress with brown accessories and a brown fur coat. When they return they will be at home on a farm near Harmon.

Mrs. Miller is a graduate of Mt. St. Clare Academy, Clinton Ia., and has taught in the schools of Whiteside county. Since June she has been employed as bookeeper at DeAnnes' Sterling.

Mr. Miller an alumnus of Community High School has been serving the past three years with the 15th airforce of the army, spending most of that time overseas. He has 46 missions to his credit and was honorably discharged in September.
