Gallimore, J.L. -- lawyer
born 11 Oct 1867 in Polk Co, IL. He moved to Carterville, IL in Mar 1893. He married Osee Canaday of Vermillon Co, IL on 24 Feb 1895. Their children are Hal G, Zela and J Ottis.

Goddard, Leroy A -- merchant, banker
born 22 Jun 1854 in Marion. The s/o James T, born in VA and ide 29 Oct 1886. His first wife, Leroy's mother, was Winefred Spiller born in TN, she had 7 children before she died in Apr 1855. James T next married Winefred Crain who died in 1866.

Goodall, Charles Edward

Charles E. Goodall Civil War photo

Charles was born in 1825 Wilson Co, TN s/o William Hardin Goodall. William and his brother, Joab, came from TN to settle in the area of Marion, IL about 1828. Both William and Joab died in 1845.

This photo of Charles is from about 1862, he lived on a farm just east of Marion for over 30 years. He was mustered into the Union Army in the 128th IL Infantry.

After the war, Charles left this family and settled near Sulphur, OK, where he died in 1910.

Goodall, Frank M -- merchant
born 05 Nov 1839 in Wmson Co, the s/o Joab. In 1862 he married Mary J Dunaway the d/o Samuel. In 1873 he owned the Goodall Hotel in marion. In 1887 he had one daughter named Anna.

Goodall, Joab -- stock dealer
born 04 Mar 1858 in Marion. His father was John, a merchant, born in 1822 in TN. His father died 1897 in Marion. Joab's grandfather came to Wmson Co, IL in 1828 from Wilson Co, TN. He est the "old Goodall Farm" 3 miles South of Mation.

Goodall, John -- merchant
born 16 May 1824 in Wilson CO, TN. He was the s/o of Jaob, who was born in VA and died in Oct 1845. His mother was Nancy (Palmer), born in TN. He is the brother of Frank Goodall. John married Sarah A (Scates) Thorn in 1856. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter,

Graham, John J -- doctor
born 16 Apr 1841 in Hanover, IN. The s/o James H and Mary (Thomas). John's father was born in 1808 in PA and died 1869 in TN. His mother was born in 1814 Jefferson Co, IN. John was one of 5 children. During the Civil War, John was in Co G 4th TN Inf (CSA). He married in TN to Terilda (Taylor) the d/o Henry in 1865. They came to Wmson Co, IL in 1868. Terilda died in Jan 1873. She had two children who both died before 1887: Atta M and Blanch. John married a second time to Mary A Wells in Jul 1874. She was born in Perry Co, IL. They have three children: Ena, James H and Mabel. The family lives on a farm in Sec 24 of Creal Springs Twp.

Greer, Robert Oliver
was born 16 Oct 1870 in Grassy Twp, Wmson Co, IL. The s/o Benjamin and Rachel (Baker). Their children were: Jessie, Louie, Frank, Lydia, Lou, Ida and Joana. Robert married Cora Hudson the d/o Richard and Sarah (Frances). Robert's children are: Olla, Rolla (b 24 Jan 1892), Lona and Loa. Robert recieved his teaching certificate 08 Apr 1892 at SIU-C and taught in Wmson Co schools. About 1900, they family moved to Herrin, were they ran a grocery at the corner of Ford and 13th Street. The store is no longer there, but it was on the corner where South Side Jr High is located. My grandpa remembered the store and said it was more a general store. Where the miners and kids bought lunches. Robert also served as Mayor of Herrin from 1915 to 1917. Robert died 08 Jan 1951. His wife, Cora, died 21 Jan 1962

Griggs, Benjamin B -- brickmaker
born 04 Aug 1846 in Perry Co, OH. The s/o Benjamin and Anna Marie (Struble). Both his parents died in OH. During the Civil War Benjamin was in Co G 31st OH 1st Brig 3rd Div 14thArmy Corps. On 04 Apr 1867 he married Sarah Margaret Fisher. The family came to Wmson Co, IL in 1869, moving to Marion in 1898. Sarah died 19 Mar 1904 in Marion. She had 8 children:Marie Josphine, Roy, Sydney C, Bertha, Benjamin Eura and 3 others. Benjamin then married Pauline Campbell on 23 Sep 1904.
