His funeral was held at the Herrin Prairie Baptist Church in Herrin. The funeral was presided over by Rev IL Lee of Herrin, Rev AM Stickney of Herrin and Rev John O Musgrave of West Frankfort.  Addresses were given by Rev JE Story of 1st Christian Church, Herrin: Rev William Carlton of Baptist Church in Marion; Rev PR Geotfelty of Methodist Church in Herrin, Rev BE Green of Herrin and various other ministers from Southern Illoinis.  Pallbearers were: Arlie O Boswell, States Attorney; Leonard Stearns, Circuit Clerk; Fred Simpson, Co Recorder; John H Smith, garage owner; Glen Fowler, Young's aid and driver and Roy Browning, contractor, all Klan members.
