Joab Bailey was in the Civil War as a  Private with Company G of the 77 Illinois Regiment and was killed on 22 May 1863 during the Battle at Vicksburg, Mississippi.  His burial location is unknown.

Martha Ann Stevenson was born to Henry and Mary Stevenson May 19, 1835, in Green township, Wayne county, Pa., moving to Woodford County, Ill. as a young girl.

Joab Bailey's death left Martha a widow with two small children.   At the time, Stephen Cummins was married to Almira Darst and they had 5 girls.   Almira died in 1865 at the age of 35 and is buried at the Secor Cemetery, in Woodford County, ILL.   In 1867 Stephen and Martha married and had two more children.  In 1880 they moved to Maryville, Mo.. 

Stephen and Martha are buried in Maryville, MO.
