


Jacob Nafsinger, better known as 'Grandpa Nafsinger', died at the residence of his son-in-law, Peter Roth, Monday, in the 90th year of his age. Mrs. Peter Roth and Mrs. John Baughman, Sr. of Panola; Mrs. Engel and Mrs. Gingerich, of Metamora, and Peter Nafsinger, of Delavan, are the surviving children. Father Nafsinger was highly respected by all his acquaintances, and was among the early settlers of this county. Thus one by one, but in rapid succession, the pioneers of old Woodford are entering into rest. The funeral occurred Thursday and the remains were interred in the Baughman cemetery.
Kappa - Pearl E. Nevius, 71, died at his home at 2:15 a.m. Thursday. Death was due to a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Ficken memorial home in El Paso. Burial will be in Hudson cemetery. He was born in Linn county, Kansas, Feb. 12, 1870, son of George and Augusta Nevius. He married Clara Belle Farrell Feb. 8, 1893. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Jesse and Ernest, both of Kappa; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Sarah Phillips, Prescott, Kan; Mrs. Millie Farrell, Lexington; Mrs. May Coleman, Horton, Mo.; Charles Nevius, Hume, Mo., and Funston Nevius, Horton, Mo. Also surviving are three grandchildren.
El Paso - Miss Gladys Noffsinger, 46, died at 3:15 p.m.
Saturday at St. Joseph's hospital in Bloomington after an extended illness from
throat ailment. She had been in the hospital two weeks. Funeral services will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Brethren, two miles east of Roanoke, in
charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. E. Small. Burial will be in Roanoke cemetery.
She was born Nov. 12, 1895, daughter of Rufus and Elizabeth Ann Noffsinger. Her
parents and a sister preceded her in death. Survivors are the following brothers
and sisters: Guy, Roanoke; Mrs. Sadie Armstrong and Mrs. Hazel Armstrong, both
of Secor; Mrs. Cora Beachey, El Paso; Mrs. Belle Eberhardt, Pasadena, Calif.;
Miss Elsie and Miss Pearl at home. She was a member of the Church of the
Brethren.
William Penn
Newell
William Penn Newell the second of twelve children born to
George and Abagail Newell. He was born in Woodford County, Illinois and departed
this life at his home in Washburn. With the exception
of eight years of his early manhood in Nebraska, Mo., Mr. Newell's life was
spent in this vicinity. He was united to Miss May B. Fisher on March 31, 1898
and to this union were born five children. Surviving besides his wife are Audra
Burke of Champaign, Leland of Cleveland, Ohio, Anita Cordes of Decatur, and
Willard H. at home; also four grandchildren, Nancy and Julie Newell of
Cleveland, Ohio, Maxine and Richard Cordes of Decatur; two sisters, Ada King of
Sioux, Iowa an Ella Likes of Lincoln, Nebraska; three brothers James of
Florence, Illinois, C.E. of Omaha, Nebraska and John L. of Lyons, Nebraska and
lots of relatives and friends. One son Owen Stanley, and one grandson, James L.
Burke preceded him in death.

The funeral of Anna F. Nauman, 82, of rural
Metamora, was at 10 a.m. Monday at St Mary of Lourdes Church, rural Metamora,
the Rev Robert Weakley officiating. Mrs Nauman, a
homemaker, died Wednesday at Pekin Hospital, Pekin. Mrs Nauman was born April 21, 1911, in Worth Township, Woodford
County, a daughter of Bernard and Anna Weber Krumholz. She married
Lawrence P. Nauman Jan. 32, 1930, at rural Metamora. He died May 30,
1993. Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn
Herron, Glasford; one son, Bernard Nauman, Toluca; seven grandchildren; two
sisters, Elizabeth Noel and Josephine Grebner, both of Metamora; and two
brothers, Edward Krumholz, Missouri, and Joseph Krumholz, Metamora; and two
nieces, Alda Kleen and Teresa Harms, both of Minonk. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs Nauman was a member of St Mary of Lourdes Church
and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
