They settled in Spring Bay, Illinois in 1951. There, he and Josephine, a homemaker, raised their family. Virgil and Josephine were active in their church. Becoming charter members of Bay View Gardens Baptist Church in 1952 and they continued active until death. Both were involved in the music ministry and Sunday School."
