PIKE SCHOOL


About the year 1910 a school was located at Pike's Crossing (the junction of state Route 39 and 47) Most of the students attending Pike School, pictured here, are not identified. the little boy in the front row, second from the left is Ralph Hine, the fifth child in the front row is marie Hine. The two girls in the second row, with the big bows in their hair, are members of the Rhinehart family. In the third row is the teacher Mrs. Tribbitt, and pupils Clyde Hine, a Rhinehart girl, Frank Henderson and another Rhinehart girl. Clyde Hine, whose father, William Hine, owned the Hine Grocery at pike's crossing, attended the Pike School and operated a huckster wagon out of the grocery.
