BROWN COUNTY
HISTORY AND GENEALOGY

The county seat is
NashvilleBrown County was formed in 1836 and is
named for Gen. Jacob Brown,
who
defeated the British at the Battle of Sackett's
Harbor in the War of 1812.
In 1907, artist T.
C. Steele built a studio
in rural Brown County and thus began the
Brown County Art Colony.
