BROWN, LAWRENCE GLEN - - Sergeant
Son of Marion Lee and Lourena Brown; born January 26, 1890, Nashville, Ind. Instructor, Cornell University. Entered service September 22, 1917, Nashville, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to Medical Detachment, 84th Division. Transferred to Camp Mills, N. Y. Overseas in September, 1918. Died May 23, 1919, from wounds, Mesves Hospital Center, France. Survived by widow, Haze! Snepp Brown; Indianapolis, Ind.

CROUCH, JOHN MELVIN - - Private
Son of Daniel and Bertha Crouch; born June 28, 1899, near Nashville, Ind. Laborer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army August 23, 1916, Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Served on Mexican Border with Company K, 3rd Infantry. Overseas in June, 1917, with Company H, 26th Infantry. Transferred to Company D, Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Division. Died of empyema March 15, 1918 in France. Survived by widow, Mamie Harden Crouch, and one son, John Dwight Crouch, Nashville, Ind.

CROUCH, ODDIE - - Private
Son of Benjamin F. and Martha White Crouch (deceased); born October 24, 1891, Nashville, Ind. Teacher. Entered service June 15, 1918, Nashville, Ind. Sent to vocational training school, Chamber of Commerce, Indianapolis; transferred to Camp Sheridan, Ala.; then to Camp Custer, Mich., where he was assigned to 9th Company, Motor Transport Unit. Died of influenza November 22, 1918, Camp Custer, Mich. Buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nashville, Ind.

FORD, DONALD IROS - - Corporal
Son of James E. and Louella M. Ford; born May 28, 1891, Nashville, Ind. A graduate of the C. T. Ludwig Training School for Detectives, Kansas City, Mo., and was following his profession when he was called into service May 21, 1918, Ottowa, Ill. Trained at Camp Gordon, Ga., and Camp Merritt, N. J. Went overseas in July, 1918; assigned to Company M, 28th Infantry, 1st Division. Killed in action October 12, 1918. (Place unknown).

GRIFFIN, RAY - - Private
Son of Adam and Sarah Pogue Griffin; born February 27, 1895, Brown County, Ind. Barber. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 7, 1917, and was sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Transferred to El Paso, Tex. Went overseas in June, 1917, with Company I, 16th Infantry, 1st Division. Killed in action July 19, 1918, near Soissons, France. Buried in American Cemetery, Commune of Ploisy, Aisne, France.

HUTCHINGS, ERNIE CLYDE - - Private
Son of James and Mary Hutchings; born July 5, 1897, Clark County, Ill. Family later moved to Brown County, Ind., and then to Terre Haute. Enlisted in Company B, 2nd Infantry, Indiana National Guard (Company B, 1??nd Infantry), June 27, 1917, Terre Haute, Ind. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss. Embarked for overseas June 12, 1918; assigned to Company G, 4th Infantry, 3rd Division. Killed in action July 23, 1918, Marne Offensive. (Burial place unknown).

JONES, JESSIE - - Private
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Jones; born July 7, 1892, Franklin, Johnson County, Ind. Reared by foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob West of Nashville, Ind. Farmer. Entered service July 26, 19 8, Nashville, and was sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Assigned to 39th Company, 10th Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Went overseas, and was assigned to 309th Trench Mortar Battery. Died of pneumonia November 6, 1918. (Place unknown).

MOORE, ARTHUR - - Private
Son of Harvey and Sarah Jane Moore; born September 25, 1888, Nashville, Ind. Farmer. Entered service September 21, 1917, Nashville, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; then to Hattiesburg, Miss. Assigned to Company E, 151st Infantry. Went overseas in June, 1918; assigned to Company F, 18th Infantry, 1st Division. Went into action immediately, and was killed July 21, 1918. (Burial place unknown.)

SCH ROCK, LEW ESTEL - - Sergeant
Son of Venes and Emma Schrock; born May 11, 1893, Nashville, Ind. Railroad employee. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army July 5, 1914, Indianapolis. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; assigned to Company A, 9th Infantry. Went overseas in June, 19;7; assigned to Machine Gun Company, 9th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces. Died October 12, 1918 from wounds. (place not known.)

SHULZ, WALTER - - Corporal
Son of Adolph R. and Ada Walter Shulz; born June 10, 1895, in Munich, Bavaria. Educated in the schools of Delaven, Wis., and for three years was a student in the Chicago Art Institute. Lived with parents in Nashville, Brown County, Ind., for several years. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 9, 1917, Chicago, Ill. Sailed June 10, 1917, attached to Headquarters Company, 16th Infantry, 1st Division. Fought at Cantigny, Marne, St. Mihiel, and Argonne. Died of disease December 12, 1918, Traben, Germany.

STURGEON, CHARLES G. - - Sergeant
Son of Gilbert and Minerva Sturgeon; born May 17, 1890, Nashville, Ind. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army March 19, 1915. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo.; assigned to Company G, 7th Infantry. Sent to the Mexican Border. Embarked for overseas October 31, 1917; assigned to Company M, 18th Infantry, 1st Division. Participated in battles of Cantigny, Montdidier, Noyon, Aisne-Marne, and St. Mihiel. Died October 11, 1918, from wounds received in action. Buried in Langres, France.

TIPTON, CLAUDE WILLIAM - - Private
Son of Joshua and Emma J. Tipton; born December 19, 1892, Pikes Peak, Brown County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service August 1, 1918, Nashville; sent to Valparaiso University for technical training. Transferred to Carnegie Institute, Pittsburg, Pa.; thence to Camp Humphrey, Va.; assigned to Company B, 4th Engineering Training Regiment. Died of pneumonia December 25, 1918. Buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Van Buren Township, Brown County, Ind.

WHITE, JOHN RAYMOND - - Private
Son of George W. and Mary Hoover White; born August 13, 1894, near Nashville, Ind. Farmer. Entered service May 20, 1918, Nashville, Ind., and was sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Devens, Mass.; assigned to Company H, 36th Infantry. Died of influenza September 30, 1918, Camp Devens, Mass. Survived by widow, Emma Simmons White, Nashville, Ind.

Name reported from Brown County for whom complete record could not be obtained.

MILLER, DAVID C. Helmsburg, Ind. Reported to have died of disease, Camp Johnston, Fla., sometime in November, 1918.
