In Memoriam.
The Old Settlers Society has lost one of its oldest members when death
called hence. Dr. Charles Angel, April 18, 1902. He was our last
president. He was the last member of his father's family, and having
come to Carroll County, in
the spring of 1825, was at the time of his death, the oldest resident
of the county.
In his death, we are reminded that the old pioneers are rapidly passing
away, 18 of them during the year now closed. He was ripe in years, ripe
in all those qualities that adorn an honest man—an upright man. As
survivors we bow in humble submission to the will of Him who ruleth and
doeth all things well.
