Funeral services for Emil F. Elmer, 89, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. He died on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his residence. He was a native of New Albany, retired in sales for Oscar Ewing Dairy Co. in Louisville and a member of Teamsters Local 783 in Louisville. He was a longtime member of the Knights of St. John in Lanesville and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany. Survivors include his wife, the former Marie Ott; two sons, Paul Elmer, Indianapolis and Jerome Elmer, New Albany; two daughters, Mary Jane Elmer, New Albany and Paula Britt, Jeffersonville; brother, George Elmer, New Albany; sister, Anna Ludwig, Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. Funeral services for Marie F. Elmer, 92, of New Albany, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. She died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at a nursing facility in Jeffersonville. She was born July 17, 1915, in Georgetown. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany. Survivors include her children, Mary Jane Elmer, New Albany, Paula Britt and husband Wayne, Sellersburg, Paul Elmer and wife Carol, Indianapolis and Jerome Elmer, New Albany; a brother, Carl Ott, Lanesville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil F. Elmer; her parents, William and Fannie Eve Ott; and her daughter, Patricia Ann Brown. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. EMERY

 

 

Funeral services for Michael Lloyd Emery, 44, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Scott Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville. He was a native of Hanford, Calif., a retired sales director for Sears Roebuck & Co. and Lazarus department stores, an army veteran and a member of New Lincoln Park Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include three sons, Christopher Emery, Georgetown, Joshua Emery, New Albany, and Thomas Emery, Clarksville; his fiancé, Darlene Gary, Jeffersonville; his mother, Martha Lee Crosby, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Dixie Blanchard, Sarasota, Calif.; a brother, John Emery, Orlando, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Lois J. Heldman Endris, 58, of 502 Spring Hill Dr., New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with entombment in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park. She died Sunday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. She was a native of Jasper and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband John O. “Jack” Endris; two sons, J. Nathan Endris of Jeffersonville and Joseph O. Endris, New Albany; three daughters, M. Kathleen Harris, Louisville, and Sarah J. Kellams and Rebecca L. Endris-Grant, New Albany; two brothers, Vincent “Bud” Heldman, Clarksville, and Jack Heldman, Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Sandy Sims, Louisville; and four grandchildren. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services for Joseph Edward Engle, of 511 Woodrow Ave., New Albany, 68, will be   Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Saturday at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Starlight and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired truck driver of the old IML Freight Company in Louisville. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany. Survivors include his wife, the former Pearl Kochert; a son, Robert C. Engle; two daughters, Betty Rose Stewart and Barbara Ann Martin of New Albany; three brothers, Charles and Melvin Engle, both of Starlight, and William Engle of New Albany; three sisters, Helen Andres and Thelma Bierman, of Floyds Knobs and Virginia Kerstan of Starlight; and two grandchildren. Funeral services for Joseph P. Engle, 71, of R. 1, Borden, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Church, Starlight, Ind., with burial in the church cemetery. He died at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.  Engle was a retired farmer and owned and operated the Engle Feed Mill, near Starlight. Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Kiesler; four sons, Charles and Melvin Engle, both of Borden, and Edward and William Engle, both of New Albany; three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Bierman and Mrs. Helen Andres, both of Floyd Knobs, and Mrs. Virginia Kersten, Somerset, Ky.; a half-brother, Edward Nadorff, New Albany; 31 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services for Melvin A. Engle, 69, of Floyds Knobs, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at St. John’s Starlight Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. He was a native of Borden, former employee of William B. Engle Construction Co., and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Hobart Beach Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, Council 8586 Knights of Columbus, Redmen Club, and St. John’s Starlight Catholic Church. Survivors include two brothers, Charles Engle, Borden and William Engle, Floyds Knobs; and three sisters, Helen Andres and Thelma Bierman, Floyds Knobs, and Virginia Kersten, Borden. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Home, Spring Street Chapel, will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services for Pearl A. Kochert Engle, 89, of New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, New Albany. She died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany. She was the widow of J. Edward Engle and a native of Lanesville. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the church Altar Society in New Albany. Survivors include her son, Robert C. Engle (Juanita), New Albany; two daughters, Betty Rose Stewart and Barbara Ann Martin (Gary), all of New Albany; a brother, James Kochert; a sister, Ruth Quinkert; two brothers-in-law, Charles Engle and William Engle; two sisters-in-law, Helen Andres and Thelma Bierman; four grandchildren, Michael Engle (Lynn), Melinda Gadberry (Rich), David Martin (Cara), and Jennifer Ehringer (Jeff); and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rose Kiesler Engle, 82, Starlight, died at 10:15 p.m. Monday at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Bradford, Ind. and the widow of Joseph P. Engle. She was a member of St. John’s Starlight Catholic Church. Survivors are four sons, Charles and Melvin Engle, both of Starlight, and Edward and William Engle, both of New Albany; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Kersten, Starlight, and Mrs. Thelma Bierman and Mrs. Helen Andres, both of Floyds Knobs; 32 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Starlight Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be at the Kraft Funeral Home, New Albany, after 6 p.m. today. Funeral services for Carolyn J. Ernstberger, 45, of Sellersburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Corydon. She died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at her home. She was the former Carolyn J. Schindler and a native of New Washington. She was a former x-ray technician at Diagnostic Medical Imaging Associated in Louisville. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and active in Christ Renews His Parish, Faith Wings. Survivors include her husband, Patrick Allen Ernstberger; two sons, Jason Patrick and Joshua Tyler Ernstberger, Sellersburg; and brothers and sisters, Michael Schindler, Margaret Ann White and Dorothy Lampe, Cincinnati, Ohio, Joe, Lawrence and Martin Schindler, Charlestown, Christine Steinwedel, New Albany, Marilyn Jackson, Hanover, and Loretta Fenster, Redmonds, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Margaret Schindler, and brothers, Richard "Dickie" and Billy Schindler. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Home, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, will be until 8 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, Oct. 7. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral services for Frank Anthony Ernstberger, 79, of Corydon, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Corydon, with burial in the church cemetery. He died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison County Hospital, Corydon. Ernstberger was a retired farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors are his wife, the former Mildred Kochert, four sons, Vernon Ernstberger, Tell City, Huston Ernstberger, Georgetown, Gilbert Ernstberger, Clarksville and Paul Ernstberger, New Albany; seven daughters, Mrs. Iona Miller, Elizabeth, Mrs. Jane Ponto, Fowler, Mrs. Ruth Shewmaker, Carmel, Mrs. Melva Gates, Indianapolis, Mrs. Annette Akers, Sellersburg, Mrs. Rita Drury, Jeffersonville and Mrs. Nancy Mathews, New Albany; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hauswald, New Albany; 59 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Corydon, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today and rosary by the Knights of Columbus will be held at 8:30 p.m. today. Mrs. Olive Evans, 77, mother of Mrs. Anthony Glotzbach, Charlestown, died Monday at 1:30 a.m. at the Methodist Evangelical Hospital, Louisville. She lived at 603 E. Main, New Albany, and was the former Olive Mott, a Harrison County native. She was a member of Park Christian Church. Also surviving are three other daughters, Mrs. Floyd Riggle and Mrs. C. J. Lopp, both of New Albany, and Mrs. George Geswein, Palmyra; a son, Edward Kiesler, Indianapolis; and two brothers. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Paul V.
