GATZ

 

 

Funeral services for John C. Gatz, 16, of Jeffersonville, will be at Sacred Heart Church, 1840 E. Eighth St., Jeffersonville, on Wednesday Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. He died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 in a car accident on St. Mary’s Road. He was born April 24, 1990, in Lafayette to Chris and Kathy Gatz. He was a junior at Providence High School in Clarksville where he was an all honors student. He was active on the swim team, a scholar athlete, member of the math team, student council representative and Providence Players drama club. He also had a passion for amateur photography and was active in Boy Scout Troop 89 of Sacred Heart in Jeffersonville where he had recently completed his Eagle Project at the Clark County Soccer Association fields. He was also involved with Sacred Heart parish and served on the Youth Activity Council, confirmation leader and Summer Daze team leader. Survivors include his parents, Chris and Kathy Gatz; brother, David; sister, Katie; great-grandmother, Winnie Oberhausen; grandparents, Lee and Janice Oberhausen and Nell Gatz; Aunts and Uncles, Sr. Susan Gatz, Tom and Mary Ann Gatz, Don and Alice Gatz, Ken and Diane Oberhausen, Roger and Donna Ballard and Bobby and Sheila Oberhausen. Visitation will be today, Tuesday. Oct. 17, from 2 to 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Jeffersonville. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Coots Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Christie Geswein, 72, Lanesville, father of a Jeffersonville resident, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday in his home. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Gleason, Jeffersonville, Mrs. Ruth Harbeson, New Albany, Mrs. Joyce Schueler, Lanesville and Mrs. Alice Ott, Allen Park, Mich.; three sons, Alfred, Chester, and Willard Geswein, all of Lanesville; a brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, of which he was a member, with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral services for Frank J. Geswein, 90, of Lanesville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday at Westminster Village Kentuckiana Healthcare Center in Clarksville. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, the former Rose Glotzbach; four sons, George Geswein of Palmyra, Joseph Geswein of Clarksville, Francis Geswein of Starlight and Earl Geswein of Lanesville; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Huth of Floyds Knobs, and Mrs. Louise Stilger of Lanesville; 27 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass for George C. Geswein, 88, of Palmyra, formerly of Lanesville, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Michael’s Church in Bradford. He died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. He was an Army veteran serving as a staff sergeant in World War II receiving four bronze stars in the Asian-Pacific Theatre. After World War II, he worked at the Quarter Master Depot and then became a dairy farmer. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford and Knights of Columbus, Corydon. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1693 in New Albany, the American Legion Post 28 in New Albany and Moose Lodge 5 in Louisville. Survivors include his wife, Garnetta of 62 years; four sons, Gary Geswein and his wife Jean, Glenn Geswein, Greg Geswein and Gordon Geswein and his wife Diane; two brothers, Joe Geswein and his wife Jean, and Francis Geswein and his wife Mary; two sisters, Louise Stilger and Pat Huth and her husband Raymond; and a sister-in-law, Mae; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl. Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Geswein, 83, of Lanesville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Wednesday at Westminster Healthcare Center in Clarksville. She was the former Rose Glotzbach and a native of Harrison County. Survivors include four sons: George Geswein of Palmyra, Joseph Geswein of Jeffersonville, Francis Geswein, Floyds Knobs and Earl Geswein of Lanesville; two daughters, Marie Hunt, New Albany, and Alma Day, Lanesville; 27 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for B.J. Gettelfinger, 64, of Palmyra, were held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, May 31, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Bradford. He died Friday, May 28, 1999, at his residence. He was a retired employee of Navistar International in Indianapolis, an Army veteran and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Phyllis A. Senn; sons, Jeff and Roger Gettelfinger; daughters, Brenda Beach, Jeanie Wagner and Judy Rae Waggoner; brothers, George and Cletis Gettelfinger; sisters, Rita Weiser, Loretta Robertson, Sister Mary Andre, Martha Oaks and Margaret Baylor; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services for Gerald A. Gettelfinger, 64, R. 1, Ramsey, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon. He was a native of Harrison County and was employed by the General Service Administration of the Census Bureau, Jeffersonville. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Frenchtown. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Kiesler; three sons, Joseph Gettelfinger, New Salisbury; the Rev. Gerald Gettelfinger, Indianapolis; and Anthony Gettelfinger, Ramsey; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Ruth Ernstberger, Georgetown; Mrs. Agnes Marie Ernstberger, Clarksville; Mrs. Joan Marquet, New Albany; Mrs. Jean Batliner, Floyds Knobs, and Mrs. Antoinette Swank, Sycamore, Ill.; three brothers, three sisters and 38 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Gerald A. Gettelfinger, 78, of R. 1, Ramsey, will be held at noon Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Sunday at her home. She was the former Mary Catherine Kiesler and a native of Harrison County. Survivors include three sons, Monsignor Gerald A. Gettelfinger of Indianapolis, Joseph F. Gettelfinger of New Salisbury and Anthony Gettelfinger, Ramsey; five daughters, Mary R. Ernstberger of Georgetown, Agnes M. Ernstberger of Clarksville, Joan Marguet of New Albany, Jean A. Batliner of Floyds Knobs and Antoinette Swank of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Andrew C. Kiesler of Palmyra; 38 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Olivia C. Weaver Gettelfinger, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bradford. She died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at a mini nursing home in Jeffersonville. She was a native of Louisville, and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, and the Floyds Knobs Senior Citizens Club. Survivors include a son, Raymond L. Gettelfinger, Floyds Knobs; a daughter, Marcella M. Kruer, Starlight; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation at Generations Funeral Home, New Albany, will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Anthony Leander Glotzbach, 87, of Charlestown, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Charlestown, with burial in St. Michaels Cemetery. He died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany. He was a native of Lanesville, a retired truck driver and the owner of the old Charlestown Transfer. He was also a former volunteer for the United Church Ministries and a maintenance man at St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Michaels Church and a member of the church choir. Survivors include two sons, Anthony R. and Patrick J. Glotzbach, New Albany; three daughters, Jane Mongin, Beaver Creek, Ohio, Pauline Bourne, Jeffersonville and Sharon Glotzbach, Charlestown, who was also his caregiver; a brother, Bernie Glotzbach, New Albany; a sister, Cecilia Wiseman, Louisville; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21 and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Leo Glotzbach, 80, father of two Clark County residents, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in New Albany. A lifelong resident of Lanesville, he was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, there. Surviving are five sons, Jim, Jeffersonville, Anthony, Charlestown, Al, Edwardsville, Bernie, New Albany, and Ed, Louisville; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Wiseman and Mrs. Anselm Wiseman, both of Louisville; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Schellenberger, Lanesville; 32 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral services for Nancy J. Kiesler Glotzbach, 78, of Charlestown, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Charlestown, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. She died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at the Medical Center of Southern Indiana. She was a native of Palmyra and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael’s Ladies Club and Quilters Club. She was a volunteer for the United Church Ministries. Survivors include her husband, Anthony “Tony” L. Glotzbach; two sons, Anthony R. Glotzbach, New Albany and Patrick J. Glotzbach, Charlestown; three daughters Pauline F. Bourne, Jeffersonville, Jane K. Mongin, Dayton, Ohio, and Sharon Glotzbach, Charlestown; two sisters Marjorie Lopp, New Albany and Garnetta Geswein, Palmyra; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Mrs. Mona Lou Goben, 48, Rt. 3, Georgetown, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Georgetown Christian Church. She died Sunday at Clark County Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Walter Goben; a son, Steve Goben of Georgetown; two daughters, Mrs. Lori Ott of Corydon and Mrs. Kathy Haug of Terre Haute; her mother, Mrs. Alice H. Smith of New Albany; a sister, Mrs. Alma Jean Scruggs of Louisville; and two brothers, Donald Hoffman, of Georgetown and Richard Hoffman of New Albany. The body has been donated to the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Louisville, a former computer operator for Bank of Louisville, and a Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Goben; a son, Steven Goben, Palmyra; three daughters, Kathy Haug; Greenville, Lori Ott, Corydon, and Dawn Millspaugh, Clarksville; three brothers, Pat, Mike and Tim Goben, Louisville; four sisters, Norma Merideth, Sellersburg, Darlese Pulliam, Coxs Creek, Ky., and Betty and Sharon Lucas, Louisville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. GOODMAN

 

 

Funeral services for Carl Joseph “C.J.” Goodman, 76, of New Albany, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. He died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at his home. He was a native of Lanesville born on Nov. 6, 1928, a concrete finisher and retired from CSL. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a die-hard Cubs fan and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He was a very devoted husband and father. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Geneva Tindle Goodman; children, Carl “Jody” Goodman Jr., Donna Dennison, Cindy Roberts, Mary Lou Duke, Donald Tindle Jr., Bobbie Jo Roberts and Melissa Faye Morrow; brother, Kenny Goodman; sisters, Anna Marie White and Mary Jane Murphy; stepchildren, Vickie Windell, Lana Straney, Phyllis Hibard, Dennis Windell, Ronny Windell and Ricky Windell; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eleanor (Rochner) Goodman; and stepdaughter, Kathy Moser. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19.
