LAWRENCE

 

 

Funeral services for Margaret Emma Lawrence, 94, of Louisville, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Highland Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. She died Saturday, November 9, 2002, at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was the former Margaret Emma Grammer, a native of New Market, Ky., and a member of Valley View Baptist Church, Louisville. Survivors include seven sons, Bill, Jim, Gene, Jerry, Wayne, Larry and Bob Lawrence; a daughter, Barbara Swisher; three brothers, Stanley, Robert and Don Grammer; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 11, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William Elwood Lawrence. Funeral services for William Elwood Lawrence Sr., 82, of Valley Station, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. He died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired claims adjustor for the old Louisville Transit Company, where he worked 36 years, a Navy veteran and a member of Valley View Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret E. Grammer; a daughter, Barbara A. Swisher of Jeffersonville; seven sons, Dennis W. Lawrence of Greenville, William E. Jr., James E., Kenneth E., Gerald T., Larry D. and Robert A. Lawrence, all of Louisville; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation at the funeral home will be until 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Irma Weber Leist, 82, 1814 Logan St., New Albany, died Monday at her home. She was a retired department manager for Byck’s in Louisville, and a member of the Mended Heart Association of Louisville, the Daughters of Isabella, and St. Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons, Donald E. Leist, Jeffersonville, and Bennett L. Leist, New Albany; a daughter, Mrs. Joan M. Schueler, New Albany; a sister, Mrs. Laetitia Gibson, New Albany; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for William G. “Bill” LeMaster, 51, of Greenville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, at St. Mary’s Navilleton Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Norton Southwest Hospital, Louisville. He was a native of Louisville and a computer technician for Louisville Gas & Electric Company. He was a member of St. Mary’s Navilleton Church. Survivors include his wife, Sandy LeMaster; two daughters, Kathy Ann Harbeson, Lexington, and Jamie Sue Coffey, Floyds Knobs; a son Eric “Mike” LeMaster, New Albany; his parents, E. G. and Wanda LeMaster, Louisville; two sisters, Carol Windhorst, Louisville, and Sandra Gramlin, Sellersburg; two brothers, Darrell and David LeMaster, Louisville; and one grandchild. A Funeral Mass for Alberta L. Senn Lickteig, of Clarksville, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lanesville. She died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005. She was a loving mother and wife. Alberta was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was born Aug. 11, 1921 to the late Robert and Rose (Fey) Senn in Louisville. Alberta is survived by her children, Diana Kruer and her husband, Melvin, Pat Mann, Carl Lickteig and his wife, Kathleen and Mary Lynn Prinz and her husband, Tom; two brothers, Robert and Albert Senn, two sisters, Jen Wallace and Rosie Foushee; eight grandchildren, Philip, Timothy and Kevin Kruer, Lisa Wilcox, Dawn Wright and Karl, Todd and Jenny Prinz and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert C. Lickteig. Funeral services for Wilbert C. Lickteig, 72, of 117 Altra Dr., Clarksville, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery, Lanesville. He died Monday at his home. He was a native of Louisville, a retired tool and die maker for the old International Harvester Company, Louisville, and a member of Cardinal Ritter Council of Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, the former Alberta L. Senn; a son, Carl W. Lickteig of Louisville; three daughters, Diana Kruer of Fort Washington, Md., and Lynn Prinz and Pat Mann, both of New Albany; three sisters, Rose Curtsinger of Owensboro, Ky., and Ann Curtsinger and Marie Kremer, both of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Home will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral Mass for Evie E. Loew, 24, of Lanesville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Medical Center of Southern Indiana in Charlestown. She was born Nov. 4, 1980 in New Albany to Larry J. and Sharon K. Cannon Loew. She was employed at New Hope Services in Charlestown. She was a member of the Challenger’s softball team and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville. Survivors include her parents, Larry J. and Sharon K. Cannon Loew; a brother, Jude J. Loew, Madison; two sisters, Paig Trinkle, Palmyra and Ashley Loew, Lanesville. Brown, Georgetown, Mrs. Mary Koetter, Borden, Mrs. Helen Gettelfinger, New Salisbury, Mrs. Laverne Smith and Mrs. Hilda Robinson both of Lanesville; two brothers, Carl and Vincent Ott, both of Georgetown; one sister, Mrs. Marie Elmer, New Albany; 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services for Clarence L. Lopp, 76, of New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. He died Sunday at Wedgewood Manor Healthcare Center in Clarksville. He was a native of Floyd County, a retired self-employed contractor, owner of New Albany Trust Company, and a member of Indiana National Builders Association, Kentuckiana Builders Association and New Albany Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie E. Lopp; two sons, Dr. Clarence L. Lopp II of North Lafayette and Gary E. Lopp, New Albany; a daughter, Connie Jo Freiheit of Bay Village, Ohio; and three grandchildren. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Home will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Edith P. Lopp, 89, Elizabeth, Ind., died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday at her home. She was a member of the Church of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors are five sons, Clyde, Murl, and Von Lopp, all of Elizabeth, and Clarence and James Lopp, both of New Albany; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Borgert, Clarksville and Mrs. Kathleen Leffler, Elizabeth. LORCH

 

 

Chester V. Lorch, 72, of 1501 State Street, New Albany, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Lorch was a former New Albany mayor and a retired attorney. He was president of the Lorch Oil Co. Inc. Lorch served as mayor of New Albany in 1942 before serving as a colonel in the Army Air Corps Intelligence during World War II. He also served as an Army sergeant in World War I. He was Floyd County prosecuting attorney from 1924 until 1930 and was 8th District Republican Chairman from 1934 until 1936. Lorch was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, New Albany Barracks 6 of the Veterans of World War I, Bonnie Sloan American Legion Post, Hobart Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the New Albany Voiture, of the 40 and 8. He was also a member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge No. 104, the York Rite, the Scottish Rite of Evansville, the Tri-County Shrine Club, the Floyd County and Indiana Bar Associations, and the New Albany Elks and Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary W. Green; and one daughter, Mrs. Blanche E. Belviy, New Albany. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Seabrook Funeral Home, with burial in Graceland Memorial Park. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Green Lorch, 68, of 1501 State St., New Albany, will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in Graceland Memorial Park. She died at 3 p.m. Friday at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lorch had been taken to the hospital Wednesday after the death of her husband, Chester V. Lorch, a former mayor of New Albany and an attorney. He died Tuesday. Mrs. Lorch is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Blanche E. Belviy, New Albany, and one sister, Mrs. James F. Quinn, Clarksville. Funeral services for Christopher A. 'C.A.' Luckert, 74, of Louisville, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at St. Louis Bertrand Church, 1104 South Sixth St., Louisville, with burial in St. Louis Cemetery. He died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville Inpatient Unit at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was the former owner of Luckert's Dispensary, a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church and a Marine veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sons, Gus Luckert and his wife, Carol and Bob Luckert and his wife, Sharon; three sisters, Martha Dattilo, Margie Freeman and Nellie Gatz; sister-in-law, Jean Luckert; four grandsons, Cary, Casey, Cubby and John Luckert and a special friend, Marietta Reid. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Fingerle Luckert; a brother, Bill Luckert and a sister, Loretta Hubbs. Visitation at Embry Boss Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Highway, Louisville, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18.
