She died Sunday, March 18, 2000 at Westminster Village in Clarksville. She was a native and former resident of Starlight, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and past president of the Senior Citizens Club of Holy Family Catholic Church. Henry J. Rake, 62, father of a Clarksville resident, died Sunday in the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. He lived at R. 2, Floyd Knobs. He was a retired maintenance foreman for Huber & Huber Motor Express Inc., Louisville, and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Catherine M. Rosenberger Rake; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita R. Beach, Clarksville; two sons, Gilbert J. Rake and Melvin B. Rake, both of New Albany; five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Herman, and Louis Rake, all of Borden; Theodore Rake, Floyds Knobs; a sister, Miss Anna Mae Rake, Borden; and four grandchildren. Winfred L. Reas Sr., 83, of New Albany, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004. He was born June 10, 1920 to Edith and Ralph Reas in New Albany. “Reas,” as he was known, retired from Indiana Gas Company in 1982. He was an Army veteran serving as a technical sergeant during World War II. He was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 28, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1692 and American Association of Retired Persons. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He is survived by three daughters, Juanita Engle (Bob), New Albany, Cindy Reas, New Albany and Michaelle Fisher, New Albany, four sons, Wilfred L. Reas Jr. (Adria), Alaska, Jesse Reas (Pam), Newport, Mark Reas, Louisville and Terry Reas (Debra), Clarksville; nine grandchildren, Mike Engle, Mindy Gadberry, Stephanie Fredrick, Theresa Nolan, Jared Reas, Angela Reas, Nathan Reas, David Reas and Nick Reas; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Reas; a sister, Dorothy Evaline (Bruce); and spouse, Rowena Reas. The former Hilda Lamb, she was employed at the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation at Charlestown.
