| CAMPBELL, Rachel Susan
Mrs Rachel Campbell We are thankful that in life and in death we are tenderly drawn to one, who has not only tasted life and tasted death for every man He has tasted earthly life, death, and eternal life for everyone and this great Master of destiny is the one who is altogether lovely, Jesus of Nazareth - We are here to pay our last tribute of respect to Rachel Susan Campbell, who was born September 18, 1884, into the rural home of Lyman and Rosanna Brooks, who preceded her in death several years ago. She had two sisters, Elsi, who died in young girlhood, and Mrs Bertha Purcell, of English; four brothers, Samuel and Levi, who have preceded her in death; Hiram, of Alton, and Will, of Cape Sandy. On June 15, 1900, at the age of 16, she was married to Walter Campbell. In early life, she united with the Christian Church at West Fork, where she lived on a farm for several years. She also resided in Evansville for several years, where she and her husband were in the restaurant business. Her husband died there. She moved to Alton, where she spent her last years. She united with the Baptist Church at Alton and was a true worker in her church and community as much as her health would permit. Besides her brothers and sister, she is survived by nieces and nephews. She died September 16 at the home of a niece. Violet Redden, near English, where she had gone for a visit, at the age of 65 years. The clock of life is wound but once, And no one has the power. ------- |
