Indiana
Pilot Knob - Corda Belle Kemp, daughter of G.B. and Minerva Wiseman Kemp, was born October 25, 1870, at Alton, and died November 21 at the age of 78 years. She was married to Josiah Harvey. To this union were born three daughters and four sons. Her husband and two sons Virgil L. and Herman, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Harry Harvey, of Milltown, Route 1; Kedric Harvey, of Michigan City; three daughters, Mrs Ressie Harvey, of Lovington, Ill.; Mrs Belle Parde, of Richmond, Ind.; Mrs Eleanor Rogers, of Monticello, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs Minnie Newkirk, of Chenoa, Ill., and Mrs Edna Ridge, of Alton. In early life she became a member of the Deuchars Christian Church. After moving to this community, she attended the Pilot Knob E.U.B. Church as long as her health permitted. Mrs Harvey maintained her own home as long as possible. She spent the last few months of her life in the home of her son, Harry. Funeral services were held on November 23 at the Pilot Knob E.U.B. Church, with burial in the El Bethel cemetery. The Rev Robert Poindexter, of Marengo, officiated. |

Pilot Knob - Harry Harvey, 48 year old commander of Crawford Post of American Legion, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home near here Friday night, August 12. He was a salesman for Allied, Inc., Indianapolis, dealers of school supplies. Son of Josiah and Corda B. Harvey, he was a native of Crawford County and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Marengo Grange. Survivors are his wife, Mrs Nellie Harvey; a brother, Kedric Harvey, of Michigan City; three sisters, Mrs Ressie Harvey, of Hardinsburg; Mrs Eleanor Rodgers, of Monticello, and Mrs Belle Pardo, of Richmond. Services were held Monday at the El Bethel Church, with the Rev Robert Poindexter in charge. Members of Crawford Post, American Legion, were pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery. |

Indiana.
Salem - Mrs Guy (Ressie L.) Harvey, 77, formerly of Leavenworth, Route 1, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was a member of the Hardinsburg Christian Church and Pekin Grange. Survivors include her husband, former Washington County deputy sheriff; three sons, Thomas E. Harvey, of Geneva; James and George Harvey, both of East Peoria, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs Ruth Jones, of Decatur, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hollis Funeral Home, with burial in the Hardinsburg cemetery. |
| HARVEY, Virgil Lionel Died February 2, 1947, Urbana, Illinois
Virgil Lionel Harvey, son of Corda and Josiah Harvey, was born September 7, 1893 near Alton, and died February 2, 1943, at his home in Urbana, Ill. He was the second commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 630 Urbana. He was an agent for the State Mutual Life Assurance Company for 25 years. In 1920, he married Golda P. Bosley, of Champaign. He is survived by his wife, his mother, of Milltown; three sister, Mrs Ressie Harvey, of Lovington; Mrs Eleanor Rogers, of Monticello, Ill.; Mrs Belle Pardo, of New Albany; two brothers, Harry Harvey, of Milltown, and Kedric Harvey, of Michigan City. Funeral services were held February 5. The Rev Charles L. Bromley officiated and burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.

Florida
Sanford, Fla. - Mrs Ella Ridge Hodgins, youngest daughter of William Wesley and Mary Ann Kemp Ridge, was born at Alton on October 20, 1893, and died at her home on May 22 at the age of 72. She had lived in Sanford the last 49 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors are her husband, Roy B. Hodgins; a daughter, Mrs Sam Alice Dunn, of Sanford, and sons, L.B. Hodgins, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Capt Paul Hodgins, of Albany, Ga.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the last of a family of seven children. Her parents, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. Mrs Hodgins was an Aunt of Ray Ridge and Mrs Edward Levell, of Curby. Funeral services were held on Wednesday of last week at 3:30 p.m. at the Bresson Funeral Home. with the Rev Oliver Weise, of the Congregational Church, officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery at Sanford. |
