Rose Willis Johnson, 83, a former resident of Crawford county, died
on August 14, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Maud Baganz, in Terre
Haute.
Also surviving are two other daughters, Mrs Rose Esarey, of English;
Mrs Edith Culver, of Alton; one son, the Rev. Fred Johnson, of St.
Louis; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Terre Haute Bible Center
Church, of which Mrs Johnson was the oldest charter member. Burial was
in Rose Lawn Memorial Park. |
| JONES, George William. Died Monday, August 26, 2002
George William Jones, 79, Corydon, died at 8:07 p.m. Monday,
Aug. 26, at his home.
A native of Cape Sandy, born Sept. 3, 1922, he was the son of the late
Max K. and Florence Mae Lynch Jones.
He was a retired employee of International Harvester in Louisville, a
Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist
Church and Pisgah Masonic Lodge in Corydon.
Survivors include his wife, the former Geraldine Meredith; four sons,
Terry L. Jones of Homewood, Ill., Robert L. Jones of Brandon, Miss.,
Rodney B. Jones of Corydon and Duane Jones of Montevallo, Ala.; two
daughters, Pamela Alcorn of Corydon and Anita Adams of Pittsboro; four
brothers, Kenneth Jones of Leavenworth, Jessie Jones of Illinois, Lester
Jones of Florida and Marlen Jones of Bedford; a sister, Margie Linton of
Leavenworth; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Aug. 29, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a Masonic service
at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 30, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse
Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. at Cross of Calvary Baptist Church
near Corydon with burial in Central Cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Gary Few.
Military rites will be performed at the gravesite.
The family suggests memorial gifts to his church or to Hospice of
Southern Indiana.
