Miller, South Bend, sprinkling car; Ansel Moffatt, Indianapolis pencil sterilizing case; Franklin Mosure, Vera Cruse, wire tightener for fences; Claude E. Peck, diamond spoonholder; Franz S. Kerr, deceased, Byrneville, Harrison County; S.A. Goss, vice C.V. Mosier, resigned, Erie, Lawrence County; E.C. Butler, Vice, E.G. Barrow, deceased, Orrville, Knox County, J.H. Thompson, Vice W.H. Leathers, resigned.

June 22, 1898. The Republicans of the Indiana delegation are interested in the rumor that Representative Henry’s friends are planning to push him for Governor of Indiana. They have been laboring under the belief that a seat in the Senate was what Mr. Henry had his eyes on, and the alleged gubernatorial move is therefore something of a surprise.

Marley Cooper, a well known young married farmer of Odon, was shot last night while in the company of Miss Mamie Mitchell, his legs being filled with No. 4 shot. He will be a cripple all his life. Who did the shooting is unknown, but it is the result of family troubles. Excitement runs high over the sensational shooting on account of the prominence of the parties concerned.

Washington, Ind.. Sept. 30.—The Republican campaign was opened in Daviess county last night by Hon. James S. Dodge, ex-department commander of the G. A. R. The local G. A. R.  took charge of the meeting and made it a grand success. There was a big crowd and the speaker took the audience by storm. The speaker advocated the retention of Porto Rico, Cuba and the Philippines and the audience approved. From now on Mr. Dodge will be a favorite in Daviess county.

Washington,  Ind., Jan. 24. -Arthur Quassey, aged twenty-four, was arrested here to-day charged with criminally assaulting four-year-old Addle L. Woodall, daughter of Dow W. Woodall, a farmer for whom he worked. Last night Woodall and his Wife left the house to visit some neighbors, leaving the little girl at home with Quassey. When they returned they found their child lying on the floor unconscious. The brute had escaped, but to-day was arrested in a woods near the city.
