AUBURN.

The county seat of De Kalb county, situ-

ated on the projected Logansport &

Northern Indiana Railroad, four and a

half miles from Waterloo, and twenty-

two miles north of Fort Wayne.  It is

a pleasant and thriving town of about

eight hundred inhabitants, and is rapidly

increasing.  The projected railroad is

being pushed forward with considerable

energy, and will make this one of the

finest county seats in the State.  It has

a commodious court house erected at a

cost of $30,000, an excellent school, three

churches, two hotels, a new paper mill,

flour mill, carriage manufactory, and va-

rious business houses.
