DEATH OF PIONEER

Michael Eckhart had Lived In DeKalb County Fifty Years

Kendallville, Ind March 2

A pioneer of DeKalb County Michael Eckhart aged 83 years, died at the home of his son here, Salem Eckhart, of North Main street, last evening.  Born in Germany, he came to America with his parents, when twelve years of age, living a while in New York state, but coming: to Dekalb county fifty years ago he located on a farm near Fairfield Center. His wife died nine years ago, since which time he has made his home with his children.  He was a man of splendid diameter and a large circle of sincere friends mourn his death.  Surviving are his children, Mrs. Jones Foster, Achille, Kan., Mrs. John Shipe, Hudson Mich., Ervin Lockhart, Helmer and Salem, of this city.  Two sisters Mrs. Elizabeth Oberlin, of Butler, and Mrs. Martha Reinoehl, of this city, also survives.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the local Evangelical church, with burial at FairfieId Center.
