EARLY MARRIAGES OF
HARRISON COUNTY, INDIANA
Harrison
County was organized in 1808. At this time, Indiana Territory, as
a civil government, was eight years old.
This redates the organization of Indiana, as a state government by
another eight years. Knox, Clark, and Dearborn Counties had already
been formed.
The part which formed Harrison county in 1808 was taken from Knox and
Clark Counties.
At formation, Harrison County consisted of parts of present Crawford,
Oraange, Washington, and Floyd Counties.
In 1814, the part consisting of Orange and Washington were removed to
form part of the newly created Washington County,
In 1818, the Crawford County portion was removed and the Floyd County
part, in 1819. this left Harrison's boundary the same as today.

Harrison County Marriage Records.
The Genealogy Division of the Indiana State Library has possession of
this microfilm. The original book can be located in the office of the
County Clerk at Corydon.
