Jordan’s Cemetery is located about 3½ miles south of Corydon off Old State Road 135 in Harrison Township of Harrison County, Indiana. The cemetery is situated in the Northwest ¼ of the Southeast ¼, Section 13, Township-4-South of Range-4-South.

The earliest known burial at the Jordan cemetery occurred on February 26, 1821, upon the death of 52 year old Sophia, wife of Thomas Smith. Her husband, who was a native from Chesterfield County, Virginia, died over fifty years later. The next known early burial occurred on January 30, 1832,upon the death of Nancy Gwartney, followed by Sarah Gwartney, wife of Thomas, on July 15, 1837.

In 1837, the same year as Sarah Gwartney’s death, Rev. Thomas D. Lewellen of the United Brethren Church organized a class at this location. At that time the congregation met in the open air and in nearby homes and barns. Around 1846, the congregation decided to build a church house; however, deciding on its location created a rift within the membership— some wanted to build further west, while others wanted to build further north. In the end two churches were built; the Fairview U.B. Church and the Shiloh U.B. Church. Despite the friction between the two groups, some members of the Jordan Class continued to be in the Jordan cemetery, while others were buried in the cemetery established at both churches. Since the Jordan cemetery is still in use today this list does not reflect all the interred individuals.
