He was a circuit rider and preached as far south as
and noted abolitionist. He was killed by some of
Gen. Morgan’s men (of Moran’s Raiders)
at his farm just prior to the
Battle of Corydon on
shot during this confrontation, but survived his
wounds. There is speculation that the reverend
had been targeted by some of
Morgan’s men for his bitter views opposing slavery, not to mention
he shared his views during many
