Will:
Kosciusko Co., In.
Last Will and Testament of Mary J.
Makemson
In the name of the
benevolent Father of All, I, Mary J. Makemson, mindful of the
uncertainty of life and of the certainty of death do make, declare and
publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former
wills by me made.
Item I. I will and
direct that all of my just debts and burial expenses be paid and an
appropriate inscription placed upon the monument alread erected.
Item 2. I give and
bequeath to my faithful friend Frances Ellen Miller, three dollars per
week, beginning with January 1st 1920 and continuing so long as she
shall remain with me.
This is in addition to
what I have heretofore given her, but, any money paid to her hereafter
by myself or by any beneficiary under this Will shall be applied upon
the amount due her under this Will and shall stand to the credit of the
beneficiary thus paying.
Item 3. I give,
devise and bequeath all the residue and remainder of my estate, real
and personal, and of every kind and nature to my brothers William S.
Brown, Roland W., James N., Reuben A., Alfred G., Edward S. Brown and
my step-daughters, Lillie Shroyer and Minnie Elder, share and share
alike, as their absolute property.
In giving to the
beneficiaries under this item of this Will, in equal shares, I wish to
be understood as holding them all in equal esteem and feel that none
would shirk a duty looking to my welfare and comfort but I realize that
circumstances will of necessity cast this care upon them
unequally. I therefore, express the hope and wish that the
beneficiaries under this item of this Will will meet in friendly spirit
and make reasonable and just allowances to these entitled in fairness
thereto.

hereunto set my hand this 5th day March, 1920, in the presence of John
H. Brubaker and Ines Bolinger, who in my presence and in the presence
of each other and at my request sign the same as witnesses hereto.

Mary Jane Brown was born 1841 and
died Mar. 13, 1920

Mrs. Mary J. Makemson,
age 70 years, died at her home here today. A resident of Warsaw nearly
all her life succumbed at 2:00 Saturday afternoon due to a complication
of diseases from which she had been bedfast for the past eight
weeks. The deceased was a widow of the late Andrew Makemson, a
Civil War verteran. He resided alone at 924 E. Ft. Wayne St. for
many years. Among the many relatives that survive her and reside
in Warsaw and vicinity are six brothers: Wm S., Roland W., James N.,
Edward S., Alfred G., and Reuben Brown. She had four
step-childlren: Mrs. Elsie Menzie, Mrs. Minnie Elder, Mrs. Ira
Makemson, and Mrs. Lillie Shroyer.
