Coney; born February 10, 1894, Lagrange County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted
in U.S. Navy in Montevidio, Minn., and while awaiting call, entered
selective service June 24, 1918. Sent to Camp Grant, Ill.; assigned to
21st Company, 161st Depot Brigade. Transferred to Company G, 341st
Infantry. Went overseas September 9, 1918, with the 86th (Blackhawk)
Division. Died of influenza October 8, 1918, Hospital, St. Marie,
LeHavre, France. Buried, LeHavre, Seine Inferieure.
CRISE, CLYDE JOHN ---

Amanda C. Gonter Crise (deceased); born April 5, 1888, Howe, Lagrange
County, Ind. Laborer. Entered service May 25, 1918, Lagrange, Ind. Sent
to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 46th Company, 12th Battalion, 159th
Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia October 12, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky.
Buried in Ontario Cemetery, Lagrange County, Ind.
ERNSBERGER, CHARLES W.

Clara Etler Ernsberger; born August 8, 1895, Lagrange County, Ind.
Laborer. Entered service July 26, 1917. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.;
assigned to Company F, 59th Infantry. Embarked for overseas May 6,
1918; assigned to Company A, 10th Machine Gun Battalion. Participated
in battles of Marne, Verdun, and Argonne. Died of tuberculosis July 9,
1919 in Government Hospital, New York. Buried in Bellevue, Mich.

Fair (both deceased); born May 13, 1894, near Mongo, Lagrange County,
Ind. Farmer. Entered service August 26, 1918, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to
Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 22nd Company, 6th Training Battalion,
158th Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia October 9, 1918, Camp Sherman,
Ohio. Buried at Orland, Steuben County, Ind. Survived by widow, Lura
Fair, Orland, Ind.

Faust; born October 14, 1893, Branch County, Mich. Living on a farm
near Mongo, Lagrange County, Ind., when he entered service September
20, 1917, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp
Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company B, 139th Machine Gun Battalion. Went
overseas June 12, 1918; transferred to Company B, 8th Machine Gun
Battalion, 3rd Division. Killed in action October 15, 1918. Survived by
widow, Eva Faust, Mongo, Ind.
HOOPINGARNER, MYRL D.---

Hanna Ellen Hoopingarner; born July 28, 1895, Sturgis, Mich. Moved to
Lagrange County, Ind. in November, 1910. Farmer. Entered service
September 20, 1917, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred
to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company D, 12th Machine Gun
Battalion. Went overseas in June, 1918. Killed in action August 12,
1918, Aisne, France. Buried in American Cemetery, Ville Savoy, Aisne,
France.
LeMASTER, HARVEY WALLACE

Ind. Entered service October 4, 1917, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to Camp
Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 76th Company, 19th Battalion, 159th Depot
Brigade. Transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company B,
139th Machine Gun Battalion. Sailed over seas June 12, 1918; assigned
to Company B, 11th Machine Gun Battalion. Killed in action August 8,
1918, near Thibet, France. Buried where he fell.
MALONE, RAY WARD ---

Della Malone; born April 19, 1892, near Lagrange, Ind. Teacher. Entered
service June 24, 1918, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to Des Moines, Ia.; assigned
to clerical duty in U.S. Hospital No. 26, Medical Department. Died of
pneumonia November 4, 1918, Ft. Des Moines, Iowa. Buried in Greenwood
Cemetery, Lagrange, Ind.
STROMAN, RAY ALBERT ---

Stroman; born March 13, 1895, Applemanburg, Lagrange County, Ind. Truck
driver. Entered service October 4, 1917, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to Camp
Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp
Sevier, S. C.; assigned to 105th Engineers. Went overseas May 28, 1918.
Killed in action August 26, 1918, Ypres, Belgium. Buried in Hazle
Cemetery, Belgium.
VAUGHN, JOHN L. ---

Vaughn; born August 30, 1886, Mongo, Lagrange County, Ind. Farmer.
Entered service September 20, 1917, Lagrange, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor,
Ky. Transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company B, 139th
Machine Gun Battalion; later to Headquarters Company, 148th Machine Gun
Battalion. Overseas in June, 1918. Drowned July 3, 1918. Body returned
to U.S. in October, 1920, and buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Lagrange,
Ind.
