For a person born within Lake County,  a birth certificate can be obtained as follows:

  1. In person, by visiting the Lake County Government Complex location.
  2. By mail, by mailing the following information:
  • name of the child
  • place of birth
  • birth date
  • copy of photo ID (for example, driver's license)
  • $5.00 processing fee in money order or cash (no personal checks are accepted)

The Coroner is responsible for the investigation and certification of all deaths within the County, as defined by Statutes, that fall under the Coroners jurisdiction.
 They also perform autopsies, notify the next of kin and authorize the issuance of death certificates. The Coroner will investigate any case of unusual nature to provide
 evidence for the judicial system.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court is a ministerial officer who is the custodian of the Clerk's record and seal, issues process, accepts filings of commencement of actions in litigation, enters judgments and orders of the court, receives money in his official capacity, makes certified copies of record, issues many miscellaneous licenses, and keeps a record of all wills and matters of trust in probate proceedings. The Clerk, who is an officer of the Court,
performs all official duties imposed by statute or by lawful authority of the Court.
