Shawswick

Shawswick was one of the original five towwnships, and the  name came about because a man named Wick had many admirers in the county who insisted that the township be named after him. One of the commissioners at that time named beazley, had a comrade by the name of Shaw, who was killed at the batlle of Tippecanoe and he garnered support for naming the township after Shaw. A compromise was made and the township became Shawswick. Three Constables were appointed to the township being Nathaniel Vaughn, William Dale, and John Sutton.
