[ Rising Sun was located on the Ohio River about 40 miles down the river from Cincinnati.  It was known for wealthy farm lands and fine forest which supplied the steamboat building industry and the Ohio River Trade to New Orleans.  Much of its population was transient because of the river trade. ]
