Son of Rev. A. H. and Della Franklin Anthony (both deceased); born December 25, 1892, Spencer, Ind. (Date when he entered service, camps where trained, and date overseas unknown.) Assigned to Company D, 362nd Infantry, 91st Division. Killed in action in Meuse-Argonne Offensive. (Date not known.) Buried in Grave No. 30, Section 28, Argonne-American Cemetery, Romagne, France.

BLAIR, OLIVER - - - Private
Son of James and Martha Blair; born September 10, 1887, near Vandalia, Owen County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service September 2, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Grant, Ill.; assigned to Company C, 5th Limited Service Regiment. Died of pneumonia October 5, 1918, Camp Grant, Ill. Buried in Carolina Cemetery, Atkinsonville, Owen County, Ind.

BONNEWELL, EARL - - - Private
Son of John and Minnie Bonnewell; born March 12, 1898, Spencer, Ind. Farmer. Entered service September 19, 1918, Cooperstown, N. D. Sent to Camp Dodge, la.; assigned to 9th Company, 3rd Training Battalion, 163rd Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia April 21, 1919, Camp Dodge, Ia. Buried at Spencer, Ind.

CALL, EDWARD - - - Private
Son of William and Martha Call; born November 9, 1894, Monroe County, Tenn. Moved to Owen County, Ind. in 1900. Machinist. Enlisted in Company D, Indiana National Guard, June 20, 1916, Spencer, Ind. Served on Mexican Border. Transferred to Machine Gun Company, 2nd Infantry. Sent to Ft. Ritner, Ind., to guard a tunnel on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Accidentally killed by the discharge of a revolver, April 14, 1917. Buried at Spencer, Ind. American Legion Post, Spencer, Ind., named in his honor.

COLEMAN, GUY E. - - - Private
Son of George and Emma Coleman; born October 28, 1895, Monroe City, Knox County, Ind. Enlisted in Company D, 2nd Infantry, Indiana National Guard July 25, 1917, Spencer, Ind. Expected to report for duty August 6, 1917. Accidentally drowned August 5, 1917, while swimming with friends in White River, Spencer, Ind. Buried, Spencer, Ind.

CROUCH, CLAUDE W. - - -Cook
Son of Charles J. and Elizabeth Crouch; born June 8, 1895, Gosport, Owen County, Ind. Central Union Telephone Company employ. Enlisted July 14, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; transferred to Camp Gordon, Ga. Overseas in May, 1918; assigned to Company B, 307th Field Signal Battalion, as Cook. Killed in action October 6. 1918, near Chatel Chehery. Buried in Argonne-American Cemetery, Grave 150, Section 102, Plot 3, Romagne, France.

DOUGLAS, FOREST ELLIS - - - Apprentice Seaman
Son of George F. and Fannie Douglas; born January 28, 1900, Putnam County, Ind. Moved to Owen County in 1908. Student. Enlisted in U.S. Navy March 23, 1917. Sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Station, 1ll. Died of disease April 27, 1917, Portsmouth, Va. Buried in Mannan Cemetery, Morgan County, Ind.

HIGHET, LELAND McKEAND - - - Seaman
Son of William A. and Catherine Cline Highet; born December 9, 1895, near Spencer, Ind. Draughtsman. Enlisted in U.S. Navy June 27, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Trained at Naval Training Station, Rhode Island; assigned to destroyer Jacob Jones. Killed by explosion December 6, 1917, when the Jacob Jones was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine.

HUNSICKER, RAY W. - - - Private
Son of Eli and Minnie Hunsicker; born October 9, 1887, near Vandalia, Owen County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service August 29, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Custer, Mich.; assigned to 45th Company, 12th Training Battalion, 160th Depot Brigade; transferred to Company C, 41st Machine Gun Battalion. Died of pneumonia October 13, 1918, Camp Custer, Mich. Place of burial, Poland, Ind.

KAISER, CARL HENRY- - -  Private
Son of George and Mary Kaiser; born August 26, 1891, Patricksburg, Owen County, Ind. Laborer. Entered service June 27, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 6th Company, 2nd Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade. Re-assigned to Company D, 309th Engineers, 84th Division. Sailed overseas September 9, 1918. Died of pneumonia October 13, 1918, St. Germain, France. Place of burial, Patricksburg, Owen County, Ind.

KEEFOVER, CHARLES CALVIN - - - Private
Son of David and Caroline Keefover; born October 24, 1889, Vandalia, Owen County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service June 27, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to Company E, 334th Infantry. Sent to Camp Mills, N.Y.; embarked September 2, 1918; assigned to Company B, 140th Infantry, 35th Division. Died of pneumonia February 4, 1919, Commercy, Meuse, France. (Burial place unknown.)

LAUTENSCHLAGER, WILLIAM JEREMIAH - - - Private
Son of Jacob S. and Mary Ellen Lautenschlager (deceased); born July 31, 1895, near Coal City, Owen County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service July 21, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 29th Company, 8th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp McClellan, Ala.; assigned to Battery A., 25th Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia October 12, 1918, Camp McClellan, Ala. Buried in Steuben- ville Church Cemetery, near his home.

LOCKWOOD, ERNEST HENRY - - - Private
Son of John W. and Nora Lockwood; born January 16, 1895, near Thorntown, Boone County, Ind. Moved to Owen County, 1902. Laborer. Entered service September 20, 1917, Spencer Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 39th Company, 10th Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company G, 151st Infantry. Died of pneumonia December 17, 1917, Camp Shelby, Miss. Buried in Hudson Hill Cemetery, Owen County, Ind.

OLIPHANT, FOSTER - - - Private
Son of Gideon M. and Lucinda Oliphant; born February 7, 1890, near Spencer, Ind. Farmer. Entered service July 21, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 29th Company, 8th Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to 2nd Company, 1st Development Battalion. Died of pneumonia October 7, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky. Buried in Oliphant Cemetery on home farm, Owen County, Ind.

PUTOFF, GUY JENNINGS - - - Private
Son of Wilfred and Osa Putoff; born October 4, 1896, Coal City, Ind. Coal miner. Entered service September 5, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 36th Company, 9th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia November 30, 1918, Camp Taylor. Buried in Beech Cemetery, Coal City, Owen County, Ind.

WINKLEPLECK, DANIEL RAYMOND - - - Private
Son of John W. and Mariah J. Winklepleck; born July 23, 1889, near Carp, Owen County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service July 23, 1918, Spencer, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 29th Company, 8th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp McClellan, Ala.; assigned to Battery A, 25th Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia October 14, 1918, Camp McClellan, Ala. Buried in Cuba Cemetery, Owen County, Ind.
