Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 19th Company, 5th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp McCIellan, Ala.; assigned to Headquarters Company, 36th Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia January 13, 1918, Camp McCIellan, Ala. Buried in Bowman Cemetery, near Petersburg, Ind.

ALSTATT, CHARLES Corporal Son of Frank and Ella McLain Alstatt; born November 5, 1893, Winslow, Pike County, Ind. Coal miner. Entered service October 4, 1917, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Company E, 350th Infantry. Transferred to Camp ISevier, S. C.; assigned to Company H, 120th Infantry, 30th . Division. Embarked May 12, 1918. Killed in action September 29, 1918, Chateau-Thierry Sector, France. (Burial place not known.)

BENNETT, JOHN Private Son of Martin F. (deceased) and Ellender McClure Bennett; born July 1, 1887, Monroe Township, Pike County, Ind. Coal miner. Entered service June 25, 1918, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to Company L, 334th Infantrj, 84th Division. Embarked September 2, 1918. Died of pneumonia at Camp Hospital No. 54, October 6, 1918. Buried in Cemetery No. 87, Perigueux, Dordogne, France.

BRADFIELD, CHARLES R. Corporal Son of Theodore and Mary Bradfield; born April 17, 1879, North Platte, Lincoln County, Neb. Moved to Pike County, Ind. 1890. Farmer. Entered service October 4, 1917, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Sevier, S. C.; assigned to Company E, 119th Infantry, 30th Division. Embarked May 11, 1918. Died of wounds October 18, 1918, received in action. Buried in Military Cemetery, Tampleuse, France.

BRUST, OSCAR Private Son of Otto and Katherine Brust; born November 18, 1875, (1887) Stendal, Pike County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service June 25, 1918, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to Company G, 334th Infantry. Sent to Camp Mills, N.Y. Embarked September 2, 1918; assigned to Company M, 140th Infantry, 35th Division. Participated in battle of Verdun. Died of spinal meningitis November 19, 1918, France. (Burial place, and place of death unknown.)

CARR, WARNER F. - - - - Apprentice Seaman Son of James N. and Rillia Carr; born March 10, 1893, Logan Township, Pike County, Ind. Employed in oil field. Entered U.S. Navy July 8, 1918, Evansville, Ind. Sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Station, 1ll., where he died of influenza, September 23, 1918. Buried in LO.O.F. Cemetery, Petersburg, Ind.

CATT, WILLIAM M. Private Son of Riley and Amelia Catt; born February 13, 1897, Petersburg, Pike County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service August 26, 1917, Petersburg, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 22nd Company, 6th Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp Taylor, Ky., where he died of influenza, October 9, 1918. Buried in LO.O.F. Cemetery, Union, Pike County, Ind.

COLEMAN, LEE R. Private Son of Noble and Anna Coleman; born February 8, 1892, Petersburg, Pike County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service September 20, 1917, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Embarked April 9, 1918, assigned to Company E, 25th Infantry, 2nd Division. Died of wounds July 24, 1918, received at Chateau-Thierry. Buried in American Cemetery at Suresnes, near Paris, Grave No. 458. Survived by widow, Mildred Coleman, Akron, Ohio.

CONRAD, ERNEST G. Private Son of John F. and Margaret W. Conrad; born April 17, 1895, Petersburg, Ind. Grocery employe. Entered service September 20, 1917, Petersburg, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Company E, 335th Infantry. Transferred to Camp Sevier, S. C. Embarked May 13, 1918. Assigned to Company G, 120th Infantry, 30th Division. Killed in action October 10, 1918 (Place not known). Buried in British Military Cemetery No. 642, St. Souplet, Nord, Grave 5, Row 1, Plot B. American Legion Post, Petersburg, Ind. named in his honor.

FERGUSON, JACOB RALEIGH - - - - Private \Son of Eli and Priscilla Ferguson; born October 20, 1895, Winslow, Pike County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service July 26, 1918, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Sevier, S. C.; assigned to Company H, 120th Infantry, 30th Division. Embarked May 12, 1918. Reported missing in action September 29, 1918; killed in action October 13, 1918. Buried in Grave No. 2, Old Hickory Cemetery, Bellecourt, Aisne, France.

JOHNSON, RALPH D. Private Son of Sol D. and Martha Johnson; born May 20, 1888, Oakland City, Pike County, Ind. Graduate of Marion Normal Schoo1. Traveling salesman and farmer. Enlisted June 13, 1918, Glasgow, Montana; assigned to Motor Mechanics Department, University of Montana, Missoula, Mont.; where he died of influenza-pneumonia October 15, 1918. Buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, Ind.

MCLAUGHLIN, MILTON G. Private Son of John and Charlotte A. McLaughlin; born March 6, 1890, Dubois County, Ind. Moved to Pike County, 1909. Farmer. Entered service October 5, 1917, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Company E, 335th Infantry. Transferred to Camp Sevier, S. C.; assigned to Company M, 119th Infantry, 30th Division. Embarked July 16, 1918. Killed in action, September 29, 1918, in battle of St. Quentin. Buried in Old Hickory Cemetery No. 1, Commune of Hargicourt Somme.

MASON, WILLARD Private Son of Charles L. and Mary J. Mason; born November 10, 1890, Monroe Township, Pike County, Ind. Attended Oakland City College, Oakland City, Ind. Employed in oil field. Entered service July 24, 1918, Petersburg, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp McClellan, Ala.; assigned to Battery F, 34th Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia January ll, 1919, Camp McClellan, Ala. Buried in Blackford Cemetery, Monroe Township, Pike County, Ind.

MINNIS, HOMER Private Son of Joseph Franklin and Hattie M. Mosbey Minnis; born December 24, 1895, Winslow, Pike County, Ind. Coal miner. Entered service October 3, 1917, Winslow, Ind. Living at Webster, Iowa, when he returned home, and entered service in May, 1918, Petersburg, Ind. Trained at Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Medical Department, Convalescent Camp No. 6. Sailed overseas, (date not known). Died from accident or other causes, June 22, 1919, Berlin, Germany. Buried, Augusta, Pike County, Ind.

STINSON, ALBERT C. - Private Son of Bart and Minnie Stinson; born May 20, 1893, Ayrshire, Pike County, Ind. Coal miner. Entered service June 27, 1918, Petersburg, Ind. Trained at Hotel Metropole, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Camp Hancock, Ga.; assigned to 8th Heavy Mobile Ordnance Repair Shop. Embarked September 26, 1918. Died of spinal meningitis October 25, 1918, Angouleme, France. Buried in French Cemetery, Angouleme, Charente, France.

SURVANT, RUSSELL M. Private Son of William and Rilla Survant; born November 16, 1898, Velpen, Pike County, Ind. Teacher. Enlisted in Company M, 2nd Infantry, Indiana National Guard (Company M, 152nd Infantry) April 13, 1917, Princeton, Ind. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss. Sailed June 4, 1918. Assigned to Company L, 166th Infantry, 42nd (Rainbow) Division. Killed in action October 13, 1918, Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Buried in Cemetery No. 686, Grave No. 2, Sommerance, France.

THOMAS, JESSE B. Private Son of George W. and Mary S. Thomas; born August 19, 1886, Clay Township, Pike County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service July 25, 1918, Winslow, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 19th Company, 5th Training Battalion, 159th Depot. Transferred to Camp Knox, Ky., taken ill and removed to Hospital at Camp Taylor, where he died of spinal meningitis October 19, 1918. Buried in cemetery near Union, Pike County, Ind.

TODD, JESSE REED Private Son of Enoch and Belle Todd; born September 18, 1894, in Kentucky. Moved to Pike County, Ind. November 9, 1912. Oil field employe. Entered service May 27, 1918, Lawrenceville, Ill., where working. Trained at Camp Gordon, Ga.; where he was assigned to Company M, 6th Infantry. Sent to Camp Merritt, N.J., and embarked in July, 1918. Died September 23, 1918, of wounds received in action. (Place of death and burial not known.)
