Called into service October 15, 1918, Vevay, Ind., and was sent to Camp
Winona, Ind. Truck driver. Contracted influenza, and died October 27,
1918, twelve days after reaching camp. Buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery,
Ohio County, Ind.

Motor boat pilot. Entered service July 20, Warsaw, Ind. Sent to Camp
McClellan, Ala., where he was assigned to Field Artillery Corps. Died
of pneumonia October 14, 1918, Camp McClellan, Ala. Buried in Vevay
Cemetery, Vevay, Ind.

Farmer-teacher. Entered service November 6, 1917, Vevay, Ind. Sent to
Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Sevier, S. C.; then to Camp Mills,
N. Y. Overseas in May, 1918; assigned to Company B, 113th Machine Gun
Battalion. Died from wounds October 28, 1918. Survived by widow, Ida
Brindley, Brooksburg, Ind.
BRINDLEY, DANIEL - - 2nd

Brindley; born September 8, 1881, Craig Township, Switzerland County,
Ind. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army in 1902. With the exception of about
eight months in 1905, spent the remainder of his life in the service.
Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant; stationed at Camp Kearney, Cal., with
Company I, 18th Infantry, where he died of pneumonia November 29, 1918.
Buried in Vevay, Ind.

December 6, 1892, near Vevay, Ind. Called into service June 26, 1918,
Vevay, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 18th Company, 5th
Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade. Overseas in August, 1918;
assigned to Company B, 333rd Infantry. Transferred to Company M, 138th
Infantry, 35th Division. Died of pneumonia November 22, 1918. (Place
unknown.)

September 4, 1899. Assigned to Company F, 38th Infantry. Sent to
Philippine Islands; assigned to Coast Artillery Corps. Died November
23, 1917, Corregidor, Phillipine Islands. Survived by widow, Margaret
Cole, and four children, Margaret, Ruth, Charles E., and Adah Fern Cole.

born May 1, 1889, near Vevay, Ind. Farmer. Entered service early in
September, 1917, Vevay, with first contingent of selected service men
from Switzerland County. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Company
B, 335th Infantry. Died of pneumonia December 28, 1917, Base Hospital,
Camp Taylor, Ky. Buried in Vevay, Ind. The American Legion Post, Vevay,
Ind., named in his honor.

September, 1918; assigned to Company K, 333rd Infantry. Later
transferred to Company I, 363rd Infantry. Killed in action October 24,
1918, Argonne Forest Drive. (Burial place unknown.)

1918; assigned to Company K, 119th Infantry, 30th Division.
Participated in battles of Bellecourt, Premont, and St. Souplet. Killed
in action October 10, 1918. (Place unknown.)

Transferred to West Point, Ky.; assigned to 71st Training Battalion,
Field Artillery. Died of influenza October 15, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky.
Buried in Vevay, Ind. Survived by widow, Nellie Hudson, Hollywood, Ca1.

Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Then to 1st Regimental Infirmary, Field
Artillery Replacement Depot. Died of influenza October 10, 1918. Buried
in Vevay Cemetery. Survived by widow, Gladys Webster Pike, Vevay, Ind.

28th Infantry, 1st Division. Killed in action July 21, 1918, Soisson,
France.
