Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia October 18, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky.
Buried in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, Ind. Survived by widow, Ruby
Schocke Baur, Tipton, Ind.
BOWER, MINER LEO - - Private
Son of Frank J. and Orpha Miner
Bower; born August 2, 1894, Tipton,
Ind. Bookkeeper. Entered service July 2, 1894, Tulsa, Okla. Sent to
Camp McArthur, Tex.; assigned to Company I, Replacement Battalion. Died
of pneumonia October 12, 1918, at Camp McArthur. Buried in St. John's
Cemetery, Tipton, Ind.
CAMPBELL, JOHN H. - - Private
Son of Isaiah and Sarah Campbell;
born October 1, 1887, near Goldsmith,
Tipton County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service March 29, 1918, Baldwin,
Mich. Received training at Camp Custer, Mich., Camp Gordon, Ga., and
Camp McClellan, Ala. Sailed from Newport News, Va., June, 1918. With
Company M, 113th Infantry at time of death. Killed in action October
10, 1918. (Place not known.) Burial place not known.
CLARK, CLYDE - - Private
Son of James and Sarah Clark; born
September 26, 1898, Sheridan,
Hamilton County, Ind. Living on a farm near Ekin, Tipton County, when
he enlisted in U.S. Regular Army February 7, 1916, Sheridan, Ind. Sent
to Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Served on Mexican Border. Assigned to
Company G, 16th Infantry. Embarked June 12, 1917. Killed in action May
8, 1918, Cantigny, France. First Tipton County boy killed in France.
Buried in American Cemetery No. 176, Section A, Grave 70, Villers,
Somme, France.
COX, RALPH - - Sergeant
Son of John and Alice M. Pickerel
Cox; born October 30, 1894,
Sharpsville, Tipton County, Ind. Automobile mechanic. Enlisted in U.S.
Regular Army April 11, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Ft. Thomas,
Ky.; assigned to Company A, 7th Infantry. Trained at Ft. Bliss, Tex.,
Gettysburg, Pa., and Camp Greene, N. C. Embarked April 6, 1918. Killed
in action June 21, 1918, Belleau Woods. Buried in American Cemetery No.
1764, Belleau, Aisne, Section F, Plot 4, Grave 181.
ELLER, WILLIAM OKLA - - Private Son

June 26, 1894, Hillisburg, Clinton County, Ind. School teacher.
Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army December 10, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind.
Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.; transferred to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to
Regular Army, Recruit Detachment. Sent to U.S. Aviation School, Kelly
Field, Tex. Embarked June 30, 1918; assigned to Detachment No. 9,
Automatic Replacement Draft. Died of pneumonia July 19, 1918,
Winchester, England. Body returned and buried at Tipton, Ind.
JACK, GEOFFERY GERVAISE - - Private
Son of Lemuel and Dorothy Jack; born
November 3, 1897, near Cedar
Corner, Tipton County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army
February 12, 1918, Tipton, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio;
assigned to Company G, 49th Infantry. Transferred to Camp Upton, N. Y.
Embarked from Camp Merritt, N. J. July 26, 1918. Assigned to Company H,
112 th Infantry, 28th Division. Killed in action October 15, 1918.

Son of Alonzo and Belle Jarrett; born
October 6, 1895, Tipton, Ind.
Railroad employee. Entered service May 22, 1918, Tipton, Ind. Trained
at Ft. Snelling, Minn., and Camp Devens, Mass. Assigned to Supply
Company, 36th Infantry. Drowned while in performance of his duties at
Camp Devens, Mass., September 20, 1918. Buried in Fairview Cemetery,
Tipton, Ind.
LAN DON, RAYMOND A. - - Corporal
Son of Lewis and Eola Landon; born
September 6, 1896, near Hartford
City, Blackford County, Ind. Lived many years in Tipton County. Clerk.
Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army (Medical Corps) June 12, 1917, Ft. Wayne,
Ind. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.; transferred to Camp Robinson, Wis.
Assigned to Headquarters Company, 16th Field Artillery. Transferred to
Camp Greene, N. C.; assigned to duty on Personnel staff of the Adjutant
General's Detachment. Died of indigestion December 25, 1918, Windfall,
Ind. Buried in Windfall Cemetery.
MAGNETT, EARL DEWEY - - Private
Son of Scott and Rosa Magnett; born
September 27, 1898, Goldsmith,
Tipton County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army October 3,
1916, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; then to Ft.
Sam Houston, Tex.; assigned to Company E, 28th Infantry, 1st Division.
Served on the Mexican Border. Embarked June, 1917. Wounded in battle of
Soissons July 19, 1918. Died November 28, 1918. Government report
states he was, "Killed in action July 21, 1918."
PICKARD, CECIL VERNON - - Private
Son of Eli T. and Sarah Jane Pickard;
born December 19, 1896, Pickard,
Clinton County, Ind. Farmer. Living near Kempton, Tipton County, Ind.,
at time of enlistment in Indiana National Guard (Company 1, 151st
Infantry) July 3, 1917. Sent to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.;
transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. Embarked from Hoboken, N. J., June
12, 1918, with Replacement Unit. Assigned to Company H, 23rd Infantry,
2nd Division. Fought at Chateau Thierry, St. Mihiel, and in Argonne
Forest. Killed in action October 6, 1918, in the Argonne Forest. Buried
at Tahurs, France.
RAMSEYER, PEARL W. - - Private

Ramseyer; born September 23, 1887,
Kempton, Tipton County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service August 26, 1918,
Lebanon, Ind. Sent to Camp Custer, Mich.; assigned to 4th Company, 1st
Battalion, 160th Depot Brigade; then to Company E, 14th Ammunition
Train. Died of pneumonia October 19, 1918, Camp Custer, Mich. Buried in
Liberty Church Cemetery, Tipton County, Ind. Survived by widow, Elsie
Murd Ramseyer, Sharpsville, Ind.
ROSS, GROVER - - Private
Son of Robert and Rosa Ross; born
July 28, 1892, Hamilton County, Ind.
Machinist. Entered service July 23, 1918, Tipton, Ind. Sent to Camp
Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 11th Company, 3rd Training Battalion, 159th
Depot Brigade. Transferred to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; assigned to
Company E, 118th Engineers. Embarked October 7, 1918. Died of disease
October 17, 1918 on the Kroonland enroute to England. Buried at
Andrews, Huntington County, Ind. Survived by widow, Letha Cramer Ross,
Andrews, Ind.
SCHWARTZ, ROY F. - - Corporal

Schwartz (Goar); born June 7, 1900,
Huntington, Ind. Moved to Tipton County, 1908. Student. Enlisted in
U.S. Regular Army May 6, 1917, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.;
transferred to Camp Greene, N. C., assigned to Company G, 9th Machine
Gun Battalion. Embarked April 2, 1918. Killed July 15, 1918 in second
battle of the Marne. Buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington,
D. C.
SERIGHT, MYRON J. - - Private
Son of Lewis and Ella Seright; born
August 31, 1895, Tipton, Ind.
Student Indiana University. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 10, 1917,
Cincinnati, Ohio. Received training at Ft. Thomas, Ky., Syracuse, N.Y.,
and Camp Greene, N. C. Assigned to Company H, 39th Infantry. Discharged
January 3, 1918, because of disability following pneumonia. Died of
tubercular meningitis April 30, 1918, San Antonio, Tex. Buried in
Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, Ind.
SHUCK, GILBERT R.- - Private

Tipton County, Ind. Automobile dealer. Entered service July 23, 1918,
Tipton, Ind. Trained at Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Battery A, 2nd
Regiment Field Artillery, Replacement Draft. Died of pneumonia October
31, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky. Buried in Liberty Cemetery, Tipton County,
Ind. Survived by widow, Ethel Kessler Shuck, Goldsmith, Ind.

Jennings County, Ind. Moved to Tipton County in early youth. Farmer.
Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 2, 1916, Columbus, Ohio. Transferred
to Ft. Sam Houston, Tex.; assigned to Medical Department, 7th Field
Artillery. Embarked from New York June 10, 1917. Killed in action May
18, 1918, on Montdidier Front. Buried at Oise, France. American Legion
Post, Tipton, Ind., named in his honor.
TURNER, WAYNE E. - - Private

Russiaville in Tipton County, Ind. Machinist. Entered service August 5,
1918, Tipton, Ind. Trained at Recruit Camp, Syracuse, N. Y. Assigned to
53rd Company, 14th Training Battalion. Died of pneumonia October 4,
1918, in hospital at Oswego Lake, Ont. Buried in Prairieville Cemetery,
Tipton County, Ind.
ZEHNER, CHARLES OREN - - Sergeant
Son of Walter and Frances Zehner;
born December 27, 1888, Windfall,
Tipton County, Ind. Shoe merchant. Entered service July 1, 1918,
Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Battery A,
36th Battalion Field Artillery, Replacement Draft. Died of pneumonia
October 11, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky. Buried in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton,
Ind. Survived by widow, Blanche Zehner, Tipton, Ind.
