Gordon, General John G.
Gordon, General John G. of Muscatine, Iowa died January 4, 1877 aged 67 years. He was a prominent businessman here. He was a native of Baltimore, Maryland and came to Muscatine in 1844. He leaves 7 children, all grown and married with the exception of two. The funeral will be next Saturday.

Ronald D. Kagee, 47, Muscatine, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center - West Campus, Davenport.
Graveside services at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Burch, Dan Skipton, Dave Hartman and Brian Littrel.
Visitation at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home.
Mr. Kagee was born on May 9, 1955, in Sacramento, Calif., the son of Albert and Peggy Kostankewich Kagee. He married Rose Carson on Aug. 3, 1975, in Rio Linda, Calif.
He was employed at HON Co. since 1976. He enjoyed time spent with his granddaughters, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhonda Littrel and her husband, Brian, of Muscatine; a son, Randy Kagee and his wife, Maria, of Davenport; two grandchildren, Cassie and Geena Littrel; his mother, Peggy McCoy of North Highlands, Calif.; a sister, Karen Kagee Littrel and her husband, David, of Muscatine; two brothers, David Kagee and Dennis Allen, both of North Highlands.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Kaalberg, Gertrude Marie
Gertrude Marie Kaalberg, 84, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Funeral Mass at the St. Mathias Church, 215 E. Eighth Street. The Reverend Jason Crossen of Ss. Mary & Mathias Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Senior Circle.
Gertrude was born on November 6, 1921, in Muscatine, the daughter of Chester A. and Myrtle Metzger Neipert. She married Archie William Kaalberg on November 8, 1941, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She was a member of the St. Mathias Church and the Ladies of the Moose.
She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and growing flowers.
Survivors include one son, Gary W. Kaalberg and wife, Julie, of Muscatine; two granddaughters, Jennifer Freers and husband, David, of Iowa City and Jacque Moore and husband, Mike, of Tipton; three great-granddaughters, Kimberly Moore, and Lucy and Nora Freers; one brother, Donald Neipert and wife, Dolly, of Wilton; and two sisters, Marilyn Ruckles and husband, Duane and Ruth Stachar, all of Muscatine.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers and three sisters.

Kaalberg, Bernard John
Bernard John Kaalberg, 86, of Muscatine, died Sunday, October 23, 2005, at Unity Hospital.
Funeral Mass at St. Mathias Church, 215 W Eighth Street. The Reverend Troy Richmond will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Jonathan Kaalberg, Jason Viner, Shane Kaalberg, Jeff Kaalberg, Scott Kaalberg, Travis Kaalberg and Greg Carlson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. .

Bernard was born on February 7, 1919, in Wilton, the son of Rhinehart and Mary Van Aken Kaalberg. He married Helen Marie James on January 18, 1941, at the St. Mathias Church in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1997.
He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving as a radio operator during World War II in North Africa, Corsica and Italy.
He farmed in the Nichols area until 1966, when the family returned to Muscatine. He then farmed and also worked at Louis Rich for 15 years, retiring in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Kaalberg and wife, Linda, of West Liberty and James Kaalberg and wife, Nancy, of St. Louis, Missouri; three daughters, Judith Kaalberg of Muscatine, Pam Viner and husband, Bill, of Muscatine, and Brenda Kaalberg of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Maurice Kaalberg and wife, Sherrie of West Liberty; and three sisters, Helen Leatherman of Muscatine, Regina Milligan of Waverly, and Anita Leatherman of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Edwin and Archie, two sisters, Frances, and Florence, and one sister in infancy.

Faith Jean Kaller, Muscatine, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Unity Hospital.

Faith was born Aug. 9, 2004, in Muscatine, the daughter of Jamey Kaller and Jessica Jones.
Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Drake Kaller and Levi Griffin, both of Muscatine; paternal grandparents, Tammy Kaller and Rick Lanfier, both of Taylor Ridge, Ill.; maternal grandparents, Lisa Jones and Kevin and Carol Jones, all of Muscatine; paternal great-grandmothers, Judy Donnelly of Fort Myers, Fla., and Sally Kaller of Greenrock, Ill.; maternal great-grandparents, Patricia Keller and Betty and Dave Jones, all of Muscatine; and several aunts, uncles and cousins

BLUE GRASS, Iowa - Alan Kammerer, 27, of Blue Grass, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Services at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be at Blue Grass Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cade's educational fund.
Mr. Kammerer was born Dec. 9, 1976, in Iowa City, the son of Jerry and Justine Cuppy Kammerer. He married Lisa Gerks Aug. 8, 1998, in Blue Grass.
He worked at Yellow Freight Lines, Davenport as a truck driver.
He was a member of Local Union number 371 and an avid Chicago Bears fan.
He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa, of Blue Grass; son, Cade, of Blue Grass; mother, Justine Cuppy of Wilton and father, Jerry Kammerer of Davenport; brother, Daniel Kammerer of Wilton; maternal grandmother, Etta Cuppy of Davenport; paternal grandparents, Robert and Jeannette Wildermuth of Milan; paternal grandparents, Donald and Carol Kammerer of Eldridge; brothers-in-law, Keith Gerks and his wife, Valerie, of Princeton and Joe Gerks of Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Tiffany Hancock of Davenport, and Kristi Gerks of Arizona; mother-in-law, Mary Hancock of LeClaire; father-in-law, Jeff Hancock of Davenport; father-in-law, Carl Gerks and mother-in-law, Tina of Arizona. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Daryl Cuppy and aunts, Connie Kammerer and Krista Cuppy.

Harold G. Kammerer, 76, Muscatine, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the University Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City.
Services at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Revs. Robert Wilbur and Jim Olson will officiate. Pallbearers are Chad Snyder, Tim Kuhlenbeck, Joseph Starkweather Jr., Jeff Kuhlenbeck, Frank Carle and Sandy Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Kammerer, George Rick and Stephen Kammerer. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the combined units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1545 and the American Legion Post No. 27.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.
Mr. Kammerer was born on Feb. 20, 1926, in Muscatine, the son of Elmer and Elsie Bixby Saultz. He married Virgilene Bailey on April 20, 1945, in Muscatine.
He was a member of the American Legion, Community Fellowship Church and the IBEW Local Union No. 145.
He owned Kammerer Trailer Court, Muscatine.
Survivors include a son, Roger Kammerer and his wife, Tina, of Muscatine; two daughters, Sandra Kuhlenbeck and Sheryl Snyder and her husband, Darold, all of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; special friend, Rose Reynolds of Muscatine; three brothers, Donald Kammerer of Eldridge, Robert Kammerer of Tuscan Ariz., and Darrell Saultz of Fruitland; and a sister, Iona Miller and her husband, Joe, of Muscatine.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Ruth A. Jones Kammerer, 63, Tucson, formerly of Muscatine, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in Tucson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adair Funeral Homes, Avalon Chapel, Tucson.

Joyce J. Kardux, 68, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at her home.
Celebration of Life Service at the Faith Chapel at the corner of Hwy 92 and the New Boston blacktop. Reverend Ron Yohe will officiate. Joyce was born on July 30, 1939, in Davenport, the daughter of Goven and Angie Ruggles Disney. She married Harry R. Kardux on June 9, 1959, in Davenport.
She worked for the US Post Office for 27 years as a letter carrier. Joyce was the first female letter carrier in the State of Iowa.
She was a member of the Faith Chapel and was active with the American Cancer Society. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose and Business and Professional Women/Muscatine. She volunteered in many things and enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, puzzles and her grandchildren.Survivors include her husband, Harry Kardux of Muscatine; three sons, Jeff Kardux of Dallas, Texas, Wally Kardux and significant other, Pam Ford, of Wilton, and Todd Kardux and wife, Shelley, of Hart, Michigan; one daughter, Cindi Kardux and significant other, Dan Kelly, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Morgan and Mitchell Kardux of Hart, Michigan, and Ky, Hannah, and Hailey Kardux of Muscatine; three brothers, Terry Disney of Texas, Ted Disney of Kentucky, and Tom Disney of California; three sisters, Carel Ramery of California, Florence Greer of Montana, and Janet White of California; one step-sister, Marian Hastings of Burlington; and her mother-in-law, Barbara Kardux of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karg, Leila A.
Leila A. Karg, 87, Muscatine, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at the Muscatine Care Center.
Services at Faith Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, Minn. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
Memorials have been established at Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine, and Faith Lutheran Church, Hutchinson. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home is handling the local arrangements.
Mrs. Karg was born on May 2, 1915, in Winthrop, Minn., the daughter of Julius L. and Emma Wiessert Lickfett. She married John Karg on Dec. 2, 1937, in Brownton, Minn.
She graduated from Minneapolis Business College in 1965 and was employed by Dr. Dean Olson as a dental assistant from 1967 until her retirement.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She and her husband wintered in Texas for many years and were members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission, Texas.
She was involved in sewing groups, mission work and assisting with the activities with both churches.
She loved traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Germany. She also enjoyed entertaining and visiting with relatives and friends. A special joy of hers was having family reunions at her lake home at Lake Minnebelle. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Carol Karg and her husband, Merle Beverlin of Muscatine; a brother, Gilbert Lickfett and his wife, LaVone, of Stewart, Minn.; two grandchildren, Kristine Ratliff and her husband, Tim, of Rockfalls, Ill. and William J. Kloster and his wife, Cathy, of Minnetonka, Minn.; a sister, Hilda Sondergaard of Hutchinson; four great-grandchildren, Lance Malott, Allison Engles, Carlayne Kloster and Samantha Kloster; and four stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and a brother.

Morgan, Ray
Sad Death of Little Ray MORGAN
Little Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. MORGAN, died at the home of his parents on River St., Monday morning, May 11th, 1896, after an illness of five months, of consumption, aged 13 years. Ray Stanley MORGAN was born in Attalissa, Muscatine County, Iowa, October 7, 1882, and departed this life May 11, at 4 o'clock a.m. aged 13 years, 7 months and 4 days (in Kane County, IL). Deceased was one of the three noted colored boy musicians, that have gained much popularity throughout the country, and are known as the Morgan Bros. Trio. Ray's chosen instrument was the guitar of which he was a perfect master. He was a bright and gentlemanly little fellow and skilled musician, who was admired by all. His death is a sad blow to the family, who had looked forward to such a bright career for him, with his musical gifts, and especially to the brothers with whom he had played so long, and their future is now darkened with deepest gloom, as his place can never be filled. Funeral services were held from the A. M. E. church, Tuesday, at 3 p.m., Rev. Hall officiating. [Batavia Herald, 14 May 1896]

Mrs. Murty Downey Nicklas. 81, 2002 Logan St., died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Hershey Convalescent Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Geo, M. Wittich Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation began at noon today.
Murty Downey was born Aug. 6, 1894 at Millersburg, m., the daughter of William A and Mary Corder Downey. She had lived in the Muscatine area most of her life and was married to Fred Nicklas.
Only survivors are a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and four sisters.

Ryder, James a railroad brakeman, was killed January 10, 1877 one mile east of Wilton Iowa. (Rock Island Daily Argus, Saturday 13 January 1877)
(Daily Union: indicates his name was A.D. Ryder and that he was killed near Fulton, Iowa, aged about 24 years. He was single; his parents live in Michigan and that is where the remains were sent.)

DEATH OF ELDERLY WOMAN EXPECTED FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
Demise follows an Illness of Nine Months Duration
No funeral arrangements
The death of Mrs. W. A. Townsley occurred at her home, 115 Rook street this morning at one o'clock after a nine months illness. She has been in the hospital for two weeks and recently was removed to her home. Her death was expected at any time during the last three days. Mrs. Townsley, who had reached the age of seventy-three years, had spent the greater portion of her long and useful life in Muscatine or in this vicinity. She united with the First Methodist church years ago and always was a faithful member.
Martha Miller was born at Jamestown, Green county, Ohio, August 26, 1839, where she grew to young womanhood. Removed to Idaville, Indiana later, where she was united in marriage to W. A. Townsley October 5, 1868, coming with her husband to Muscatine county the same year. For many years the family home was in Sweetland township and for a long time the residence was at Fairport, where Mr. Townsley operated a general store. The family moved to the city 15 years ago. Mrs. Townsley leaves to mourn her death her husband and one son, J. A. Townsley, of Waterloo, Ia., who was here at the time of death. Two grandchildren, Paul and Janet Townsley, also survive. One son Charles Vernon, died many years ago while the family lived at Fairport. Another son, Fremont B. Townsley, passed away in May, 1895. Besides these, she is survived by three brothers and two sisters, all residents of Ohio. The funeral will be private and will be conducted from the home on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be made at Melpine.
