THE OBITUARY OF

Darrell J. Seidler, Sr.

Darrell J. Seidler, Sr.

DARRELL J. SEIDLER, Sr. 45, Route 4, was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital Sunday morning following a freak accident on his farm. Sheriff's deputies said Seidler was operating a bulldozer in a trench silo on his farm about 9 a.m. Sunday when a 20-foot high wall caved in and buried him, leaving only his head above the silage. Sheriff's deputies quoted Pottawattamie County Medical Examiner Dr. Arthur Pedersen as saying Seidler's death was due to suffocation. Highway patrolmen and sheriff's deputies gave Seidler mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in an effort to save his life.

Seidler was a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs. He and his brother, Frank Seidler, Jr., were partners in the cattle feeding and order buying operation located northeast of Council Bluffs. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include: wife, Betty; two sons, Darrell, Jr. of Omaha and Pfc. Stephen Seidler stationed with the U.S. Army in Vietnam; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Seidler, Sr., Council Bluffs; brother, Frank Seidler, Jr. of Council Bluffs, his twin brother, Donald Seidler of Redwood City, California; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Finn of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Frances Sherman of Underwood.

Funeral arrangements are pending awaiting arrival of his son from Vietnam. Meyer Funeral Home is in charge.
