Today (2007), Atchison County has only two school districts - Atchison and Atchison Community - but in the "olden days", when there were two or more homesteads on every section, small rural schools dotted the countryside. Below is a list of known schools. Names changed throughout the years, and I have tried to include as many of the variant names as I could research. Not included below are joint or union districts with adjacent counties.
