Herman Reeves' Father Dies Feb. 12
Charles Reeves of Harper died at the Anthony hospital Tuesday of last week at the age of 84. He had been ill only about a week suffering with pneumonia and heart trouble. Services were held Friday at the Parsons Funeral home in Anthony. Mr. Reeves is survived by four sons and two daughters. One son, Herman, lives in Kiowa. His wife preceded him in death about three years ago. OBITUARY Charles Reeves, son of John and Phoebe Reeves, was born near Bloomington, McClean county, Illinois, June 11, 1867, and died at the Community hospital in Anthony February 12 at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 1 day. He came to Wichita with his parents in 183. He was united in marriage to Cora B. Murphy July 4, 1888. Later he and his wife and children moved near Corwin, living there on a farm for 38 years. On account of his wife's failing health they moved to Harper six years ago. His wife and four children preceded him in death. Surviving are six children: two daughters, Mrs. Harley Shockey of Derby, Kansas, and Mrs. Virgil Branscomb of Livonia, Missouri, fours sons; Albert of Kingman, Herman Reeves of Kiowa, Charlie of Harper, Garold of the home, 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Edith Harman, Mrs. Emma Martin and Miss Belle Reeves, all of Wichita, and Mrs. Mabel Burleigh of Tulsa, one brother, Ralph of Andover, Kansas. Funeral services were held last Friday at the Parsons Funeral home in Anthony. Rev. I. T. Allen officiting. Interment was in Forest Park cemetery in Anthony. (The Kiowa News - Feb 21, 1952)
