Mrs. Dorthy Wells
Mrs. Dorthy Wells, mother of the Wells boys, died in this city (Kiowa, Barber, Kansas) New Years day from complications due to old age. Mrs. Wells was in her 67th year and lived a Christian life. While her death was not unexpected it was a severe blow to her children and relatives who worshipped her. The funeral sevices were held at the Congreational Church and the esteem in which she was held was attested by a large attendance of sorrowing friends. In the death of this excellent lady the community mourns with her sons and relatives. Her life was one of unselfness and her many good deeds will live after her for years. Her remains rest in Riverview cemetery. A good woman has gone to her reward. Source: "Kansas Review" newspaper, Jan 9, 1901, film #K-689, Kansas Historical Society, Topeka Kansas.
