ABBOTT, RICHARD E. "BUD"

Richard E. "Bud" Abbott, 81, of Augusta, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2007.

Viewing 1 - 8 p.m. Sunday, at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at the First Southern Baptist Church, Augusta.

Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita.

Richard was born in Hutchinson on Feb. 19, 1925, the son of the late Eugene Julius and Bessie Pearl (Todd) Abbott. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Theatre and retired as chief of conservation and supplies control from Raytheon Aircraft. On April 5, 1946 he married Christina Mayo in Wichita. She survives.

Other survivors include: daughters, Haren Herdt of Hutchinson and Diana Page and husband Steven of Wellington; son, Richard Abbott Jr. of Barrington, Ill.; brothers, Marvin and wife Bobbie, Don and wife Wanda; sisters, Maxine Lehman, Joan Lowrey and husband Monte, Dixie Sailor and husband Ken, all of Wichita; grandchildren: Kenneth Herdt and wife Shennena of Hutchinson, Becky Herdt of Ashville, NC, Darren Page and wife Jennifer of Wellington, Jeremy Page and wife Tracey of Wichita, and Monica Androes and husband Mark of Wichita; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Martin.

Memorials to First Southern Baptist Church or Augusta Community Caring Center.

ABRAHAM, IDELL (MRS. FRANCIS)

Idell (Mrs. Francis) Abraham, 71, of Wichita, died Monday.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St. George Christian Orthodox Church.

Survivors are two sons, Dr. Francis of Wichita and Dr. Larry L. of El Dorado; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Farha and Mrs. Judy George, both of Wichita, a brother, Ed Shadid of Wichita and a sister, Mrs. Rose Ball of Kansas City, Kan.

Memorials have been established with St. George Christian Orthodox Church and the American Cancer Society.

ALLEN, CLYDE

Clyde Allen, 50, of 640 North High, died Monday afternoon at the Susan B. Allen Memorial hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Allen was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Cleveland, Okla., the son of Clyde and Mae Wiggins Allen. On Nov. 25, 1952, he married Lou Dreilling at Russell. He came to live in El Dorado from Russell in March 1955. Prior to living in Russell he had lived in Oklahoma. He was employed as a pumper for Cities Service Oil Company. He was a Veteran of World war II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Doherty Men's Fraternity.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Tillman of Wichita and Mrs. Cindy Powers of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. Pat Atkinson of Richmond, Texas, and Mrs. Louise Fox of Cleveland, Okla.; two granddaughters and one grandson. (El Dorado Times, Dec. 12, 1979)

ANDREW, ELLEN (MRS. JOHN)

Services for Mrs. John (Ellen) Andrew, 51, of 1950 Arlington who died Monday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian church with burial at 3 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery at Eureka.

Mrs. Andrew was born Dec. 11, 1927, at Eureka, the daughter of A. B. and Lilli Cook Bruce. She was secretary for the E. J. A. Tool Company, moving here from Florida. She had lived in El Dorado and Madison before moving to Florida. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Desk and Derrick Club.

On Dec. 14, 1971, she married John Andrew at Miami, Okla.

Survivors include: her husband of the home; three sons, Art Moore of El Dorado, Jeff Moore of Pensacola, Fla., and Joey Moore of Wichita; a daughter, Ruth Mock of Goddard, her father and stepmother, A. B. and Jessie Bruce of Caney; two sisters, Marietta Gann of El Dorado and Phyllis Gregersen of Grand Island, Neb., and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother. (El Dorado Times, April 17, 1979)

ARGO, ROBERT F.

Robert F. Argo, 52, of 728 Harvard, El Dorado, died unexpectedly, March 13.

Services were held march 13 at the First United Methodist Church with burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Burns.

Mr. Argo was born Nov. 24, 1925, at Wellington, the son of Clyde and Tura Stamm Argo. He moved to El Dorado 28 years ago from Wellington and was an employee of the Getty Oil Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.

On Dec. 21, 1952, he married Beth Spinden at Burns.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, David and Don, and a daughter, Nancy, all of the home; two brothers, Cecil of Wichita and Bill of Chicago, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy McClelland of Hutchinson and Mrs. Margaret Botkin of Wellington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Dietz-Carlson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in his name at the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left at the church office or at the Dietz-Carlson Funeral Home. (March 15, 1978, El Dorado Times)

AUER, VIRGINIA M.

Services for Miss Virginia M. Auer, 60, of Costa Mesa, Calif., who died Monday, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Kirby-Morris Funeal Home with burial in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

Miss Auer was born May 8, 1918 in Butler County the daughter of William and Sena Miller Auer. She moved from El Dorado to Dallas, Texas, in 1958 and moved to California in 1965. She was employed as a private secretary for Beacon Industries. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Desk and Derrick Club of Butler county.

Survivors include two brothers, J. L. Auer and Bruce Auer, both of El Dorado; two sisters, Miss Mildred Auer of El Dorado and Mrs. Bernice Compton of Manhattan; six nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

The casket will not be open at the service. (El Dorado Times, May 8, 1979)
