Robert E. Bals Services Set

Funeral services for Robert E. Bals, 85, 508 West First, who died Friday, will be held at 2 p.m. in the Hilyard Funeral home in Douglass.

Howard Yoder, student minister of Winfield, will officiate. Burial will be in the Augusta cemetery.

He was born Oct. 19, 1885, in Lafayette, Ind.

Mr. Bals moved to El Dorado in 1945 from Douglass.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Betty Holt, Atlanta; two step sons, dale Covert, 127 North Denver, and Walter Covert, Wichita, one step daughter, Mrs. Everett M. Demo, 203 North Taylor. (El Dorado Times, Mar. 24, 1971)

BEARDMORE, MRS. JAMES M.

Mrs. James M. Beardmore, 80, of 810 South Main street, a resident of El Dorado since 1921, died Friday at Valley View Convalescent home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kirby Funeral Home chapel.

Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

Mrs. Beardmore was born May 19, 1887 at Calois, Ohio. She was married to Mr. Beardmore at Tulsa, Okla., on March 13, 1911. She came to El Dorado from Texas in 1921. Mrs. Beardmore was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Surviving are the widower, a son, James W. Beardmore, 1017 North Washington street; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Hendershot of Malaga, Ohio, Mrs. Mildred Hinton of Lowell, Ohio and Mrs. Cora Lough of Odessa, Tex., two brothers, Frank Leach of Cisco, Tex., and Herbert Leach of Oklahoma City, Okla. There are two grandsons.

A sister and three brothers preceded Mrs. Beardmore in death. (El Dorado Times, June 3, 1967)

BECKNER, CARL

Former Resident Dies April 4th

Carl Beckner, 70, of Loma Linda, Calif., died April 4 in that city, succumbing to a brief illness. He was a longtime El Dorado resident prior to moving to California about 15 years ago. Services and interment were at Loma Linda April 8.

Surviving are Mrs. Beckner, a daughter, Melba - Mrs. James Neighbors of Winfield; one son, L. E. Beckner, Pomona, Calif., two brothers and two sisters, Garland Beckner who lives in Illinois, J. W. Beckner Redlands, Calif., Mrs. Carrie Fisher and Mrs. Mary Walthers of Lodi, Calif., and three grandchildren, Mrs. Stephen Blakesley (Marilyn), Garden Grove, Calif., Myron Beckner, Pomona and Kevin Neighbors of Winfield. BIDDLE, ERNEST E.

Funeral services for Ernest E. Biddle, 63, of 917 West Carr avenue, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dietz-Pittman colonial Chapel.

Mr. Biddle was employed as a billing clerk on the Santa Fe railway loading dock prior to retiring in 1958 because of ill health. He had lived in El Dorado for 30 years, coming here from Kingman, Kan., and Alton, Mo. He was born at Kingman on May 25, 1904.

Surviving are two sons, Donald R. Biddle of Claymont, Del., and Richard E. Biddle, of El Dorado, Route 2; a daughter Mrs. Marilyn K. Range, 532 North Emporia street; two brothers, Walter L. Biddle of Wichita and Clarence E. Biddle of Thayer, Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. Lottie M. Gower, 917 West Carr. There are seven grandchildren. Four sisters and a brother preceded Mr. Biddle in death.

The Rev. Donald D. McCracken, pastor, of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times. Nov. 7, 1967)

BLAISDELL, LAWRENCE WILLIAM "CAP", SR.

L. W. Blaisdell Dies Here Today

Lawrence William "Cap" Blaisdell Sr., 53, 801 South Emporia, died this morning at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Belvedere, Neb. He had lived in El Dorado since he was a small child.

On Dec. 25, 1941, Blaisdell married Eleanor Mullins in Sinton, Tex.

During World War II he was a pilot in the Navy. He was a retired mechanic and had formerly worked for Gray Motors.

He was a member of the Flint Hills Amateur Radio Club.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Kandi Blaisdell, of the home; two sons, Jimmie Lee Blaisdell of the home, and Lawrence William Blaisdell, Jr., Route 1, El Dorado, two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Fugett, Wichita Falls, Tex., and Mrs. Doris Gaines, Plainville, one brother, Harold Blaisdell, New Iberia, la., and two grandchildren.

BLUE, JAMES P.

AUGUSTA, Kan., services for James P. Blue, 80, retired farmer who died Friday, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Dunsford Funeral Home.

He was a lifetime area resident.

He was a member of Woodmen of the World and Zion EUB Church.

Survivors include his widow, Leona; a son, Elmer, San Pablo, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Luida Harvey, Augusta and a brother, John Woodward, Okla. (Wichita Eagle, May 1, 1967)

Graveside Rites for Earl Bradley Set for Tuesday

AUGUSTA, Kan., Graveside services for Earl Sumner Bradley, 82, who died Friday at the Sedgwick County Hospital, Wichita, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery here.

He was born at Augusta and had been a resident of the Wichita-Augusta area all his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virgie Wells, Wichita, and a sister, Mrs. Enola Thorn, Colorado Springs.

BRIGHT, JOHN M.

AUGUSTA, Kan., Services for John M. Bright, 55, a Mobil Oil Co., utility operator who died Monday, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dunsford Funeral Home.

Born in Paris, Tenn., he came to Augusta in 1934 from Osawatomie, Kan. He was a member of Mystic Tie Lodge, Western Star Lodge, Odd Fellows, Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, and First Christian Church.

BROADSTOCK, AMANDA ELIZABETH (MRS. BERT)

Mrs. Amanda Elizabeth Broadstock, 74, a lifetime resident here, died Friday.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dunsford Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado, Kan.

She was the widow of Bert Broadstock, who died in 1960. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Haverhill, Kan.

Survivors include two sons, Bob, El Dorado, and Bill, Augusta; four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Foreman, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Wilda Nelson, Springfield, Mo., and Mrs. Dorothy Gray and Mrs. Betty Patterson, both of Augusta; five brothers, Earl Stonemets, Bellevue, Colo., Bill Stonemets, Buhl, Idaho, Ted Stonemets, Windsor, Colo. BROOKS, RUTH ELIZABETH WILSON (MRS. ELMER)

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Wilson Brooks, 44, nurse at Bartlett Memorial Hospital, Sapulpa, Oka., died Wednesday.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Sapulpa. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Economy Cemetery east of El Dorado.

Born in El Dorado, she moved from here in 1942. She was a graduate of Susan B. Allen School of Nursing here.

During World War II, she served as a first Lieutenant in Army Nurse Corps. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Weslyan Service Guild and Roary-Anns, of Sapulpa.

Survivors include her widower, Elmer R., two sons, Raymond R. and Robert E., and a daughter, Mary Kay of the home; her mother, Mrs. Lola Wilson, El Dorado, two brothers, James and Aaron of El Dorado and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Heap, Canon City, Colo.

BROWN, GEORGE M.

El Doradoan's father is dead

George M. Brown, 82, Camden, Conn., father of Mrs. Randolph Moore, 323 Broadview, died Wednesday.

Funeral services will be Saturday morning in Camden.

Survivors in addition to Mrs. Moore include his wife, one son, Clifford Brown, Valencia, Spain, one brother, Cliff Brown, Connecticut, and two grandsons, Kurt and Brian Moore, both of El Dorado.

BURNHAM, WILLA G.

Mrs. Willa G. Burnham Dies

Mrs. Willa G. Burnham, 84, of 416 South Star Street, a native and life-long resident of Butler County, died this morning at Allen Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral plans are to be announced by the Dietz Pittman Funeral Home.

Willa G. McCormick was born in Western Butler County on July 3, 1886. She was married to Earl L. Burnham at El Dorado on Dec. 24, 1903. Mr. Burnhamd died on January 19, 1953.

Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Mrs. H. A. Green; two sons, Paul Burnham and an un-named infant, and three sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. F. L. Boyce, 509 North Denver and Mrs. Leon Cross, Manhattan, two sons, Mac C. Burnham, 421 West Olive and Ross E. Burnham, Port Orchard, Wash., one sister, Mrs. Roy Buffum, 206 North Residence, two brothers, Murry McCormick, 621 West Pine and Claude McCormick, 161 East Eighth.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School class. She also was active in affairs of Friendship Rebekah Lodge No. 10 and of W. H. L. Wallace Woman's Relief Corps. (El Dorado Times, Feb. 6, 1971)

El Doradoan's Mother Dies at 67 in Iola

Mrs. Bert W. (Goldie) Burton, 67, Iola, mother of James Burton, El Dorado, died today there.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Calvary United Methodist church at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Iola. Burial will be Highland cemetery there.

The Waugh-Yokum Funeral Home of Iola is in charge. (El Dorado Times, Apr. 19, 1971)
