BALLARD, WARREN WALTER

Warren Walter Ballard, 71, of Wichita, formerly of El Dorado and Eureka, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Christian Church with Dr. Jack Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

He was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Oil Hill, the son of Walter Samuel Ballard and Wilma Gertrude. On July 11, 1943, he and Audria Mitchell were married in Eureka. He was a retired Boeing manager and a member of Masonic Lodge Bester Brown, Masonic High 12, Scottish Rite Consistory and the Mt. Olive Christian church.

Survivors include: wife, Audria, son, Gary of Seattle, Wash., daughter Janet Mead of Wichita, stepmother, Elsie May Ballard of Hutchinson, sisters, Wilma Banks of Roak Springs, Wyo., Juanita Gibson of Carson City, Nev., one grandchild.

BANKS, MARIE S.

Marie S. Banks, 92, of El Dorado, died Monday, Aug. 1, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Southern Baptist Church. Burial will be in Matfield Green Cemetery.

She was born July 10, 1902, in El Dorado, the daughter of Mayo L. D. and Fannie Roberts Osborn. On Nov. 22, 1924, she and Robert Lincoln Banks were married in El Dorado. He died Oct. 26, 1981. She lived in Great Bend from 1951 to 1968. She was a homemaker and a retired police officer and traffic clerk in Great Bend. Her memberships included the First Southern Baptist Church, Rebecca Friendship Lodge in Leon, and SBA Hospital Auxiliary Sewing Group. She taught Sunday school and was a volunteer for SBA Hospital for 12 years.

Survivors include: son, Robert of El Dorado, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

BARTON, MARY JANE

Mary Jane Barton, 81, of El Dorado, homemaker, died Thursday, April 21, 1994. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Rev. Danny Langley will officiate the services.

She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Jonesville, Ind., the daughter of Adam William and Ida Lodema (Schlescher) Bess and lived in the Butler County area since 1970. On April 6, 1976, she and Fred J. Barton were married in Diamond, Okla. He died May 8, 1978.

Survivors include: daughters, Helen Jantz of Wichita, Barbara Harper of El Dorado, sister, Norma Walter of Stilesville, Ind., five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Jannie H. Beaman, 80, of El Dorado, died Monday, Feb. 7, 1994 at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Pastor Kenneth Thee of the Assembly of God Church will officiate.

She was born Nov. 17, 1913 in Redfield, Ark., the daughter of Reed and Hester (Bateman) Hopkins and moved to El Dorado as a child. She graduated from El Dorado High School. On Aug. 10, 1934, she and Walt Beaman were married. She was a retired longtime employee of McClellan Department Store and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include: husband, Walt, daughter, Doris Lee DesCarpenter of Wichita, daughter in law Beverly Beaman of El Dorado, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and two sisters.

BEARDMORE, JAMES W.

James W. Beardmore, 81, of Wichita, died Friday, Nov. 11, 1994. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Wheeler Camp, Okla., the son of James Monroe and Bessie (Leich) Beardmore. He had lived in the El Dorado area, but for the last 10 years had lived in Wichita. He served in the Army Aircorps during WWII. He was a self-employed carpenter and a sheet metal worker for Cessna and Boeing. He was a member of VFW Post 1174 and American Legion Post 81.

Survivors include: sons, Jack, Terry, both of Wichita, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

BECK, AMANDA

Amanda Beck, 96, homemaker and artist of Pratt, died Sunday, May 29, 1994. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 19, 1897, in Natrona. On Oct. 7, 1930, she and William J. Beck were married in Nickerson. He died July 5, 1986. Her memberships included the First United Methodist Church, American Association of University Women and Coeterie. She was a charter member and first president of the Pratt Art Association.

Survivors include: daughters, Norma Johnson of El Dorado, Phyllis Harrison of Great Bend, brother, Ralph Dikeman of Metaline, Wash., sisters, Grace Hener, May Fortenberry both of Pratt, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

BECKER, HATTIE F.

Hattie F. Becker, 86, of Emporia, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 1994, at her home. Rosary is 7 p.m. today at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

She was born May 20, 1908 in Munster, Germany, the daughter of Joseph Ermstnathe and Gertrude Bussman. On Nov. 25, 1929, she and Frank X. Becker were married in St. Louis, Mo. He died April 23, 1991.

She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heath Catholic Church, Altar Society and was a former member of the Sacred Heart School PTA.

Survivors include: sons, Frank of El Dorado, Robert of Wichita, daughters Betty Timmerman of Albuquerque, Marge Jehle of Lawrence, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Becker, in 1934 and nine brothers and sisters.

BECKER, IVAN WAYNE

Ivan Wayne Becker, 67, of Hesston, died Monday, Aug. 29, 1994 at Wesley Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Peabody United Methodist Church with Rev. Ernest Clark officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 9, 1926 in Gallatin, Mo. He was a retired body shop owner and a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion.

Survivors include: wife, Roma, formerly of El Dorado, sons, Kenneth of Goessel, Lee of Lincolnville, brothers, Robert of Gladstone, Mo., Bill of Deepwater, Mo., Jerry of St. Joseph, Mo., sisters, Goldie Brelsford of Lathrop, Mo., Mary Becker of Cameron, Mo., Jean Rosenau of Shawnee, 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons Randall and Vernon.

BEHRENS, HENRY G. 'RED' Jr.

Henry G. "Red" Behrens, Jr., 77, of El Dorado, died Friday, Dec. 9, 1994, at Knutson Manor. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral home. Cremation will follow the services. Masonic rites will be held following the services. The oration will be given by C. Verne Myers.

He was born May 3, 1917 in Chickasha, Okla., the son of Henry G. and Myrtle Lizzie Harris Behrens, Sr. He had made his home in El Dorado for over 50 years and worked for Skelly-Getty Refinery as a Udex Operator until retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Christian Church; Skelly Retirees, Patmos Masonic Lodge, Consistory and the Midian Shrine. During World War II he served in the Air Force. On June 4, 1938, he and Freida E. Goodwin of Perry, Okla, were married.

Survivors include wife, Freida, of the home; son, Henry Goodwin Behrens of Alexandria, Va., daughter, Sandra Sue Powell of Houston, Texas., sister, Mary Focht of Stillwater, Okla. Anna, Mae Coombs of Shreport, La., three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two half brothers and one sister.

BENNINGTON, CLIFTON LEROY

Clifton Leroy Bennington, 79, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, May 18, 1994. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Parker cemetery with the Rev. Guy E. Rendoff officiating.

He was born march 22, 1915 in Peabody, the son of Louis Leroy and Orpha Cole Bennington. He was raised and educated in Peabody and Burns. He was a PFC in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as an MP and as a linesman for the Signal Corps stationed in the South Pacific.

He married Josephine Rogers Oct. 1, 1953, in El Dorado. They moved to Winfield in 1983 and to Arkansas city in 1988.

He worked as a custodian for the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado for 16 years. He also worked for the Oliver Hardware Store and as a cook/dishwasher in several El Dorado restaurants.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Spencer-Ralston V.F.W. No. 1254 and the Shelton-Beaty American Legion Post No. 18.

Survivors include: wife, Josephine of Arkansas City, daughters, Mary Gandolph of Arkansas City, and Karla Sultz of Winfield, brothers, Frank of Yates Center and Wayne of Augusta, sisters Frances Stinely of Texas and Pauline Bennington of Wichita, three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Clifford Wayne and three brothers.

BERENS, GRACE E.

Grace E. Berens, 74, of El Dorado, homemaker, died Friday morning, April 15, 1994, at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

She was born Jan. 20, 1920, in LaCrosse, the daughter of Rhea and Ethel Mendenhall McNemee. On Nov. 4, 1941, she and Otto Berens were married in LaCrosse and they moved to El Dorado in 1951.

Survivors include: husband, Otto, sons, John of Huntington Beach, Calif., Bob, Tom, both of El Dorado, daughter, Jan Ridgway of El Dorado, five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

BIESECKER, MARVIN

Marvin Biesecker, 58, of Abilene, formerly of Potwin died Friday, May 13, 1994.

He was employed by TramCo Co. and formerly by Viola's RHV Store. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene.

He is survived by a son, Rance, of Ogden, daughter Leah Gish of Topeka, brothers, Donald of Decatur, Ala., Ronald of Apache Junction, Ariz., sisters, Norma Burton of Clinton, Mo., Mary Ann Knopp of Salina and Betty Adee of Abilene.

BIGELOW, CECELIA M.

Cecelia M. Bigelow, 86, of El dorado, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 1994 at Wheatstate Manor Nursing Home in whitewater. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

She was born July 18, 1908, in Herington, the daughter of Theodore and Amelia (Nehring) Biehler, and lived in El Dorado for 50 years. On Aug. 3, 1940, she and Walter Harold Bigelow were married. He died July 26, 1971. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: son, Ron of El Dorado, daughters, Wanda Reagan of Russell, Janice Adams, of Wichita, Connie Weber of Leawood, seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Memorials are to Wheatstate Manor Nursing Home.

BILES, WILLIAM V.

William V. Biles, 69, of Wichita, formerly of El Dorado, died Thursday morning at HCA Wesley Medical Center. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Kirby Morris Funeral home.

He was born June 15, 1924, in El Dorado, the son of Murray L. and Walsie (Akin) Biles and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1942. He joined the Army Air Corps and served in the 8th Air Force, the 448th bomber group, the B-24 Division and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. His plane was known as the "Hello Natural."

On Nov. 22, 1944, he and Mareta L. Burk were married. He lived most of his life in El Dorado and lived in Colorado Springs from 1970 to 1987 when he moved to Wichita. He was a retired office manager for Morrison Producing Oil Company and his memberships included the El Dorado Lions Club and the El Dorado Country Club.

Survivors include: wife, Mareta, son, Dan Biles, of Wichita, brothers, Bob of Wichita, Alfred, Arlie, both of Hutchinson, sisters, Iva Palmer, Hazel Bulger, both of Wichita, Pat Burbank, Evelyn Long, both of Hutchinson, one grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

BING, CLYDE HERBERT 'HERB'

Clyde Herbert "Herb" Bing, 84, of Augusta, formerly of Latham, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1994, at the Augusta Medical Complex. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Latham United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Latham Cemetery.

He was born April 29, 1909, near Atlanta, the son of James Clyde and Martha Elizabeth Hall Bing. He was a farmer and stockman and had lived in Augusta for the past year. He was a member of the Eureka Seventh Day Adventist Church. On April 29, 1930, he and Inez Eastin were married in El Dorado.

Survivors include: wife, Inez, sons, Duane of Enterprise, Don of Augusta, daughter, Joan Prize of Beeville, Texas, brothers, Keith of Oklahoma, Ralph of Wichita, Raymond of Latham, sisters, Margie Benson of Lake Charles, La., Elsie Wilson of Fredonia, Bernice Barker of Augusta, Pauline Hoy of Cassoday; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

BING, RAYMOND H.

Raymond H. Bing, 87, of Latham, died Sunday, October 9, 1994 at Christopher Manor Nursing Center. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Latham United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Latham Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 13, 1906 in Cowley County, the son of James Clyde and Martha Elizabeth Hall Bing. He was a retired farmer and stockman and had lived in the Latham area most of his life. He was a member of Brownlow Methodist Church and a former member of the Latham School board.

On March 25, 1932, he and Velva J. Lemon were married in El Dorado. She died March 21, 1986.

Survivors include: sons, Jim, Roy both of Latham, daughters, Jo Bigger of Wichita, Thelma Wood of Dexter, brothers, Keith of Sapulpa, Okla., Ralph of Wichita, sisters, Margie Benson of Augusta, Pauline Hoy of Cassoday, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

BLAISDELL, HAROLD A.

Harold A. Blaisdell, 75, of El Dorado, died Monday, March 14, 1994. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Kirby Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 19, 1918 in Belvidere, Neb., the son of Harry and Minnie (Weber) Blaisdell, and lived in the Butler county area all of his life. In 1939, he and Lela Marie Kennedy were married. She died in 1969. In 1974, he and Eleanor Mullins were married in New Iberia, La.

He was a pumper for Texaco for 32 years and retired in 1974. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Illinois.

Survivors include: wife, Eleanor, son Elvin of Birmingham, Mich., daughter, Deneise King of Winfield, stepsons, Lawrence Jr., Jim, stepdaughter, Kandi Smith all of El Dorado, sister, Doris Gaines of Eureka, 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

BLANKENBAKER, WILMER ALLAN

Wilmer Allan Blankenbaker, 85, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1994. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Richmond, Va.

Survivors include: wife, Frances, son, Robert of Chicago, Ill., daughters, Jane Kirk of Sterling, Va., Susan Blankenbaker of Alexandria, Va., Beth Wise, of El Dorado, three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Wilmer Blankenbaker, Jr., in 1966.

BORGER, JAMES M.

James M. Borger, 69, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, April 12, 1994, at the VA Hospital in Wichita. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Blankenship Cemetery. Rev. Clarence Borger will officiate the services.

He was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Rosalia, the son of George E. and Edith A. (Barker) Borger. During WWII he served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army. He was a retired brick mason and lived in this area all his life.

Survivors include: two sons, one daughter, brother, Wendell Borger of Rosalia, three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son.

BOWERS, MARY E.

Mary E. Bowers, 79, of Augusta, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 1994. Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and services are at 11 a.m. Friday, both at St. James Catholic Church. Father Jim Mainzer will officiate the services. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

She was born June 12, 1915, in Adamsville, W. Va., the daughter of Francis Moriarity and Elizabeth (Duffy). On Aug. 21, 1935, she and Theron A. Bowers were married in El Dorado. He died Feb. 20, 1993. She was a retired employee of Cecil's Jewelry.

Survivors include: son, William of Palmdale, Calif., daughter, Beverly Tague of Littleton, Colo., sister, Julia Bray of Houston, Texas, seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ted, "Bud" and Wade Moriarity, and sisters Kathryn Moriarity, Margaret Bruce, Gertrude Fischer and Camelita Moriarity.

BOYSEN, DARWYN

Darwyn Boysen, 58, of Ord, Neb., formerly of El Dorado, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 1994, at his home. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Oakland Cemetery, Seneca, S. D. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado with Rev. Dick Sipe officiating.

He was born Nov. 4, 1935 in Dixon, Neb., to Fredrick and Helen (Beuck) Boysen. He graduated from high school in Faulkton, S. D. in 1952. He attended airline and travel school and worked as a reservation agent for North Central Airlines in Aberdeen, S. D. He managed the family grain elevator in Bowdle, S. D. in 1972 and in 1979 moved to Rapid City, S. D. where he worked for Control Data as a line manager. In 1983 he moved to El Dorado and opened a travel agency.

On June 17, 1956 he and Janice Stotz were married in Tolstoy, S. D.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school, led Bible Studies and had a prison ministry. He was a member of ASTA and the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include: wife, Janice, mother, Helen Boysen of Seneca, S.D., daughters, Donna Streeter, Denise Haupt, both of Ord, Neb., son Darnell Boysen of New Castle, Wyo., sisters, Marilyn Senn of Chandler, Ariz., Joyce Pendleton of Lenexa, brother, Lawrence of Seneca, 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
