She was born may 21, 1902 in Benton, the daughter of Ambrose and Anna Maria Dunmire Phares.

Helen Reigart Bacon, formerly of El Dorado, died Oct. 17, 1994 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born Nov. 16, 1910, in Nashwauk, Minn. To John Routt and Elizabeth Moulton Reigart. She and George Franklin Bacon were married Jan. 4, 1934 in Kansas City, Mo. He died May 18, 1991. She assisted him in establishing and managing Bacon Insurance Co.
She was a member of vestry at Trinity Episcopal Church, president of Kansas Women's Business Assoc., and first woman board member of the Chamber of Commerce. She was secretary and treasurer of El Bowl Inc., all of El Dorado, and taught Sunday School in Colorado Springs.

Berniece Pearl Bailey, 77, of Wichita, died Thursday evening, Oct. 13, 1994 at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Douglass (Kan.) Cemetery.
She was born May 14, 1917 in Cabool, Mo., the daughter of George and Delpha McCart Akins. She was a homemaker and lived in Wichita for 13 years after moving from the Leon and El Dorado area. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include: sons, Larry of El Dorado, Gerald of Wichita, Garry of Holt., Mich., brother, Paul Akins of Sacramento, Calif., 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Akins and sister, Rogene Oatterson Place.

Lola Bailey, 71, of Wichita, formerly of Eureka, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 1994 at St. Francis Medical Center. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Raymond "Pat" Stafford will officiate the services.
She was born March 6, 1922 in Lapland, the daughter of Earl and Lena M. (Miller) Brenton and graduated from Eureka High School in 1940.
On April 5, 1949, she and Earl E. Bailey were married in Rogers, Ark. They lived in Eureka and moved to Wichita in 1964. She was a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance for many years and was a power sewing machine operator for Ponca Canvas Products where she retired in 1985. She was active in C.B.ers for MDA.

Waldo I. "Ike" Bailey, 72, of El Dorado, died Monday, April 18, 1994, at the Muskogee, Okla., VA Hospital. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Dec. 3, 1921, in El Dorado, the son of Charles Edward and Mabel Randall Bailey. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the V. F. W. On Jan. 18, 1969, he and Shirley Schwenker Carlisle were married in El Dorado.
He was a truck driver for Anderson and Flint and was the attendant at Mitchell Laundry for several years. Prior to living in Oklahoma for the past three years she had lived in this area most of his life.
Survivors include: wife Shirley, sons Danny Bailey of Topeka, Preston Bailey of El Dorado, stepsons Stan Carlisle, Steven Carlisle, both of El Dorado, step daughter Debbie Johnson of Spanaway, Wash., sister Tiny Malen of Columbus, Ohio, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

She was born Oct. 1, 1911 the daughter of James Lester and Jessie Mae (Bale) Richards, in Coffee County, and lived in this area most of her life. On Aug. 26, 1937, she and Levi Baker were married in Eureka. He died March 27, 1964.
She was a cook for Stardust and Ethel Jane's restaurants for many years. She taught Bible study at Gordy Square Apartments and was a member of the Foursquare Church and the Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include: daughter, Judy Gillum of Leon, brother, Jim Richards, of Torrance, Calif., eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, two daughters, three brothers and two sisters.

He was born Dec. 11, 1902, in Fairview Township, the son of Joseph Warren and Hattie Pollock Baker and lived all his life in this area. He was a retired oilfield pumper and a member of the First Christian Church and Farm Bureau.

She was born June 18, 1904 in Fairview Township, the daughter of Orville and Mamie Stalnaker Ratts. She was a homemaker and lived all her life in this area. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
On June 8, 1922, she and Russell P. Baker were married in El Dorado. He died, Nov. 28,1 992.

He was born Jan. 28, 1937 in El Dorado, the son of Emory and Helen (Brenzikofer) Barnes. He was married to Beverly J. Riffel.
He was an electrician at Staley's Manufacturing, taught adult Bible class and was an elder at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: wife, Beverly, son Paul of Los Angeles, Calif., mother, Helen Walsh of El Dorado, brother Don of Alexandria, Va., sister, Beverly Herren of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim McCullough in 1983.

He was born in South Dakota, the son of James Thomas Barnhill and Rose Freeman and moved to Arkansas from Kansas in 1973. He was a farmer, a Mason and past master of the Masonic Lodge 56 in Spring Hill where he was a member for 65 years. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Olathe.
Survivors include: daughter, Edna Caskey of Rogers, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews in El Dorado.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Brent aged resident of this community who died at her home here Tuesday, were held yesterday afternoon at the Byrd Funeral Home. Rev. C. E. King, retired Methodist minister formerly of El Dorado but now residing in Wichita, officiated. Interment was made in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
The following persons, all grandsons of Mrs. Brent, were pallbearers: Gerald Fillmore, W. T. 2-O, of St. Louis, Mo., Harold Fillmore, Seaman, 1-0 of Hutchinson, Gene Brent of Wichita, L. O. Oliver of Benton, Brent Bolin of Leon and Willard Gibson of El Dorado.

Alma Teresa Brooks, 75, a resident of El Dorado for 50 years, died today at Harris hospital in Fort Worth, Tex., after an extended illness.
She was a member of St. John's church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Raymond B. Kelly Sr., of Fort Worth and 13 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's church with the Rev. Gerald F. Rowan officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vista Cemetery.

Miss Alma Teresa Brooks who died Saturday, May 13, in a Fort Worth, Texas hospital had lived in El Dorado fifty years before going to Texas six months ago. The home here was at 405 North Star street.
Miss Brooks was born may 15, 1892 in Anderson, Ind., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Dudley Brooks (Theresa Birmingham). She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Raymond B. Kelly Sr. of Fort Worth; two nephews and a niece, Raymond G. and Dr. Gordon B. Kelly and Mrs. Edwin Ryan of Fort Worth. A brother, Fred Brooks, died February 24, 1962.
Services were held Monday morning in St. John's Church, the Rev. Fr. Gerald F. Rowan officiating. Mrs. Joseph E. Moreland was the organist. The casket bearers were Tom Hand, Joseph E. Moreland, Lein A. Martindale, Frank Vervynck, Harry W. Brown and Raymond Siegrist. Interment was in Belle Vista.

WINFIELD - Charles Wallace Butts, 89, retired teamster and a native of Butler County, died Sunday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Morris Funeral home.
Born in Butler County, he came to Winfield in 1912.
