Death Comes to Everett Barnes, 77

Death claimed Aaron Everett Barnes Friday, March 5, at the age of 77 years. Everett was born November 8, 1887 near Douglass, the son of Joseph and Martha Duncan Barnes.

He was married to Florence Berger May 12, 1915. He was a member of the Douglass Methodist Church. He was also a member of AF & AM No. 151, the Order of Eastern Star, Woodbine Chapter 95, and the Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Suits, Merriam, Kansas, Mrs. LaVerne Smith, Amarillio, Texas, and Mrs. Lois Mitchell of California; four sisters, Ella Hall and Mae Price of Douglass, Mrs. Emma Douglas of Des Plains, Ill., and Mrs. Hazel Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Douglass Methodist Church. Services were officiated by Rev. Mrs. Ruth Eckel. Masonic committal services were held in the Douglass Cemetery. BERGER, DOROTHY ROWLAND

Mrs. Berger Rites Saturday

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Rock United Methodist Church for Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Berger, 64, who died Wednesday. The Rev. B. E. Faulkner, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Interment will bein the Douglass Cemetery.

Mrs. Berger was born March 12, 1910 at Peabody, the daughter of Alvin and Clara (Kuruse) Rowland. She was married to Robert Berger at Bentonville, Arkansas on April 10, 1950. She was a member of the Rock United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her widower; a son, Edward Davis of Wichita; a daughter, Marta of the home; five brothers, Lewis Rowland of Atlanta, Will and Melvin Rowland both of Augusta, Robert Rowland of Flint, Mich., and Herbert Rowland of Moline. Ina M. Berger Funeral Saturday

Homemaker and former Douglass resident Ina M. Berger, 87, Winfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Miles Mortuary chapel in Winfield with William Peterson and Berlin Raymond officiating. Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

She was born March 10, 1900 in Texas to William and Mary Wooten Hicks.

She married John Weaver Berger in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1929. He preceded her in death in 1951.

Mrs. Berger leaves a son, Charles Berger of Augusta; a daughter Laura Weidman of Winfield; a sister, Nona Berger of Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held this morning at Douglass for John W. Berger, 61, who died of a heart attack Tuesday at his home. He was born at Udall and lived most of his life in the Douglass community. His wife, Ina, a son, Charles both of the home, and a daughter Mrs. Laura Weidman of Wichita are survivors. BERGER, ROBERT CHARLES

Berger dies in Wichita

Robert C. Berger, 77, Rock, died yesterday in Wichita.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

Berger was born April 14, 1906 in Douglass to Charles and Alice MCWilliams Berger. He was married April 10, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas to Dorothy Rowland. She preceded him in death in 1974.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include a daughter, Marta Berger of Wichita; a stepson, Edward M. Davis of Wichita; a brother, Woodrow Berger of Wichita, three sisters, Florence Barnes of Douglass; Jessie Brown of Augusta, and Katherine Alley of Derby; and two grandchildren.

BROWN, LEONARD REEVES

L. R. Brown Dies at 87

Leonard R. Brown, 87, Route 2, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.

His service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Brooks and Rev. Burl Allison, Jr. of the First United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church in Augusta.

He was born Jan. 19, 1894 in Decatur, Ill. to Henry and Sarah Jordon Brown.

He married Jessie Berger June 10, 1923 in the Bloomington area. She survives.

He was a retired farmer and a Methodist.

He served in the military during World War I.

Survivors include: two sons, Dr. Sidney Devere Brown of Norman, Okla., and Stanley Brown of Doylestown, Pa.; a daughter Barbara Unruh of Wichita; a brother, Orville Brown, Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Local Men's Sister Dies

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning at the Old Mission Mortuary at Wichita for Mamie Gladys (Mrs. Arthur) Bybee, 64, of Wichita. She died Thursday.

Interment will be in the Old Mission Cemetery.

Survivors include her widower; a son, Robert J. Elliott of Wichita; four stepsons, A.E. Bybee, Robert A. Bybee and James H. Bybee of Wchita and John D. Bybee of Clearwater; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Don Dehoff of Wichita; two brothers, Lee A. Elliott and James F.
