CORY, MRS. JAY G. (MAY BELLE)

HUNDREDS AT FUNERAL OF MRS. JAY G. CORY

Several hundred El Doradoans paid a final tribute yesterday afternoon to Mrs. Jay G. Cory, well known El Dorado club woman and church worker, who died Sunday afternoon at her home, 918 West Pine Avenue, after an illness of about sixteen hours. The funeral was one of the largest held here in many months. The Methodist Church was filled to overflowing by the relatives and legion of friends of Mrs. Cory. Many were unable to gain entrance to the edifice. Although the complete center of the auditorium of the church was reserved for the members of the organizations to which Mrs. Cory belonged, it was unable to care for the large number who attended the services.

Rev. C. A. Kitch, pastor of the church, officiated at the services. He delivered a most eloquent address. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Leward McInteer, Mrs. Harry Cousland, C. W. Thomas and Charles W. Harvey. They sang three selections. Mrs. Robert E. Templeton rendered a solo which was most comforting to the relatives and close friends of Mrs. Cory.

The services at the church were followed by the Royal Neighbors ceremonies at the grave in Belle Vista Cemetery.

The floral offerings were profuse and most beautiful. A picture was taken of them before the body was removed from the Cory home to the Methodist Church shortly before the hour for the services to begin.

Mrs. Cory was well known throughout the El Dorado community where she had lived most of her life. She was born at Florence and lived in Marion County and Cassoday before coming here. She was identified with a number of women's fraternal organizations and was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Cory is survived by her husband, three sons, and two each sisters and brothers.
